Back! I Want To Sing Gospel

TVSA can confirm that SABC2's popular reality show I Want To Sing Gospel is poised for a second coming.

It's been over two years since Durbanite Lungisani Ntuli was crowned winner of the debut season in 2008. The series aired on Sunday nights from August and wrapped in a hotly contended final three showdown at the end of October.

The finale proved to be a Sunday night ratings hit for SABC2, attracting over 2 million viewers, coming second only to the channel's perennial number one property Muvhango.

Between then and now the show has been surrounded by speculation as to whether or not it will ever return. Season 2 was scheduled to start in late 2009 but then suddenly disappeared off the radar when things went into rewind-and-repeat during the SABC Cash Fiasco of the time.

This year however, the show will definitely be back, with a Season 2 premiere ordered for June. SABC2 has confirmed that the season will be a 13-episode reality battle between 30 finalists, with auditions covering five regions round the country.

Acclaimed gospel producer Lindelani Mkhize will return as the head honcho of the search and the winner will once more win a recording contract with him.

According to SABC2's acting channel head Pulane Tshabalala, the season will also boast a fresh new look, supported by an increased production budget. Remember that oddball room with the bland walls that was used for performances for so much of the show? It won't be back.

The show will air on Sundays at 20h00. We'll keep you scooped on the audition details as soon as they're available.

I was wondering if it will ever come back. I cant wait. But 13 episodes is not enough maybe 26 would be enough. Now they will show us something that is too much edited.

Argh man, I don't like this. Why can't they let the show air at 21:00 and continue with Ribs' show at 20:00. Or they can move Ribs's show because we will still watch if it's at 21:00. I don't like the fact that Ribs will take a screen break.
