Monday Nights

DON’T TELL MOM THE BABYSITTER’S DEAD

Directed by Stephen Herek. Starring Christina Applegate, Joanna Cassidy and John Getz (1991)

Mrs Crandall goes away for a long vacation in Australia, leaving a seemingly sweet little old lady as babysitter to her five children. The lady turns out to be not so sweet, and when she dies from a heart attack, the children dump her body on the mortuary steps and decide to look after themselves. This, however, is not the end of the children's problems.

Jack Ryan goes to Hawaii and gets a job looking after a judge on the island. The job leads to him a getting involved with a woman who is the girlfriend of a property tycoon and longtime rival of the judge.

WITH HONORS

Monty, a Harvard student, drops the only copy of his 100-page thesis into the hands of Simon, a homeless man who lives under the college library. Insulted by the way in which Monty dismisses him, he offers to return one page of the thesis for each good turn from Monty, who in desperation, brings Simon home with him.

Stanley now has to tell his daughters, Heidi, 12, and Dawn, 8, that their mother won't be coming home. But he just can't bring himself to do it. So, on an impulse, he packs the girls into the car and takes them on a cross-country trip to Florida.

During the 1890s, Union soldier John Dunbar is given his own outpost near the frontier. Liking its remoteness, he decides to stay, and gradually develops a relationship of mutual trust with the Sioux. By the time the army comes back, Dunbar has joined the Sioux, and, now named Dances with Wolves, sides with them in the ensuing conflict.

A week before Britain commits to the Euro, a train robbery occurs, in which bags full of sterling notes on their way to the incinerator are stolen. In the vicinity are seven and nine year old Damian and Anthony, who find a huge bag of the money falling at their feet.

The boys have a week to spend the quarter of a million pounds before the school authorities or the train robbers catch up with them and both have different plans for what to spend it on.

KING KONG

Unscrupulous film director, Carl Denham, leaves the New York Depression behind to lead his cast and crew to the jungle of Skull Island, said to be home to a mythical giant ape known as Kong. When island residents abduct the leading lady, Ann, to sacrifice her to the ape, Carl's team risk life and limb to rescue her. After surviving encounters with dinosaurs and giant bugs, the crew capture Kong and take him to New York. There Kong creates havoc in his pursuit Ann, whom he seems to have feelings for.

MISS CONGENIALITY

Gracie Hart is an FBI agent confined to desk work because her clumsy antics managed to get a colleague of hers shot. Her transformation from agent to beauty queen is aided by consultant Victor Melling.

NOTTING HILL

William Thacker is a young(ish) man who has a small bookshop in Notting Hill, and shares a flat with Spike, an unkempt Welshman. Nothing spectacular or exciting seems ever to happen to William - until the day that American superstar actress Anna Scott walks into his shop. William is naturally starstruck, but things would end there were it not for the fact that William subsequently accidentally spills his drink over Anna in the street.

BACK TO GAYA

Timid inventor Boo, the heroic Zino, mayor's daughter Alanta, and the Snurks are all characters who live in Gaya, which features in a popular television series.

They are accidentally transported into the world of humans when the evil Dr.N.Icely steals the object of Gaya's power source and equilibrium for his own wicked ends. Their journey takes them into another world that is both strange and frightening.

HOODWINKED!

There's always more to every tale than meets the eye. Furry and feathered cops from the animal world, Chief Grizzly and Detective Bill Stork, investigate a domestic disturbance at Granny's cottage, involving a girl, a wolf and an axe.

The charges are many: breaking and entering, disturbing the peace, intent to eat, and wielding an axe without a license. Not to mention, this case might be tied to the elusive "Goody Bandit" who has been stealing the recipes of goody shops everywhere.
