YEAR OF PRODUCTION: 1998

With his grey hair, infectious charisma and his eye for the ladies, the main character Joe Stanton, played by John Travolta, remarkably resembles Bill Clinton.

Jack and his ambitious but vulnerable wife Susan set out to win hearts, minds and votes while his team members, a mix of idealists, realists and cynics, must stop his skeletons from tumbling out of the closet.

WHAT ABOUT BOB?
Monday 12 July at 19:30

CAST: Bill Murray, Richard Dreyfuss
DIRECTOR: Frank Oz
GENRE: Comedy
YEAR OF PRODUCTION: 1991

A comedy from the writer of Dead Poets Society about the patient from hell. Bill Murray plays Bob, a man who has every phobia known to man, plus a few no-one has ever heard of.

When his new psychiatrist, the egotistical Dr Leo Marvin, announces that he's taking his family on holiday, Bob is understandably distraught. He tracks down the doctor to his holiday home, where he manages to win over the locals, the doctor's neglected family and the staff of a nearby mental institution.

Trivia:
  • MTV Movie Award nomination for Bill Murray
  • Steven Spielberg was so impressed with Bill Murray's performance in this film, that he spent $250 000 of his own money on a campaign to get Murray nominated for an Oscar. Murray didn't get a nomination - it would take a much darker film, Lost In Translation, before this talented actor with the face one critic described as "lumpy oatmeal" would get his Academy Award nomination. Spielberg is not the only one who thinks Murray deserves Hollywood's highest accolade. The men's magazine, Esquire, ran this cover line on their December 2004 issue: "Will someone please give this man an Oscar?"

It turns out the bumbling Tommy is a natural salesman, but they will have to pull more out of the hat than just sales, as back home, Tommy's stepmom is up to no good …
