This is a Kate-centric episode. *Flashback for ‘Tabula Rasa’* Kate being awoken by a rifle in her face. Kate working on a farm, and then being handed in by the farmer for the reward. *End Flashback*
Jack is tending to the Marshall who slips in and out of conciseness. He keeps muttering that “She’s dangerous” and Jack finds a wanted poster of Kate in the Marshall’s jacket pocket.
Meanwhile, Sayid and the signal party are still trekking through the jungle, and as night approaches, he suggests that they make camp for the night. Sawyer wants to forge on ahead but is persuaded to stay put. Around the camp fire they discuss the mysterious signal. They eventually decide not to tell the others about the signal. “If we tell them what we know we take away their hope - and hope is a very dangerous thing to lose” says Sayid.
After a fight breaks out that night (These guys fight a lot!) Kate is given the gun to keep. They get back the following morning.
The next morning Hurley arrives at the makeshift infirmary to inform Jack that the others have returned. Jack goes up to listen to what Sayid is saying to the others and is pulled aside by Kate. She tells him about the 16 yr old signal. “Is that all you want to tell me” he asks Kate. Jack later finds Sawyer looting when he’s looking for medication inside the wreckage.
Elsewhere, Charlie helps Claire to collect luggage with a wheelchair and a bond is formed between the two. Walt is still upset that no-one can find Vincent and Locke seems to be making a whistle.
The Marshall steadily gets worse and wants to speak to Kate alone. Whilst in the tent, we hear a gunshot! A shaken Sawyer walks out and says that he did what needed to be done. Only problem was that he missed the Marshall’s heart. Jack goes into the tent and comes out a while later and passes Sawyer without saying a word.
Whoa!
I knew it!! I knew that Kate was not to be trusted, she’s far too smooth that one. Sawyer, on the other hand tries so hard to be the bad guy, but by shooting the Marshall (the guy would have suffered for days before he died) showed that he does have a softer side.
