In a sad Top 7 Results Show last night, beautiful Christina Williams (21) from Port Elizabeth reached the end of her Idols SA Season 9 dream.
Idols judge Gareth Cliff admitted that he was worried about Christina after her performance in the Top 7 Spectacular at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria this past weekend.
The Top 7 performed with the Idols Choir and Christina sang the Alicia Keys hit “Fallin’”, but Randall Abrahams thought that she over-reached. “You’re a good pop singer but you’re not a soul singer,” he told her regretfully.
The Strepsils Scream O’Meter was good this week to the youngest contestant in the competition, 19-year-old Zoe Zana from Bishop Lavis in Cape Town, who had the crowd in a frenzy this past week when she performed her energetic version of the Jackson 5’s “Can You Feel It”.
On the opposite end of the scale, Christina, Crystalene Nair (24) and Sonke Mazibuko (21) hit the bottom of the Scream O’Meter, which measures audience reaction in the auditorium.
But in terms of the viewers’ votes the Bottom 3 were Christina, Crystalene and, for the second week in a row, 26-year-old Bunny Majaja from Johannesburg.
On a lighter note in the live Results Show, the multi-award-winning South African crooner Donald electrified the Pretoria audience with his latest hit, “Crazy But Amazing”.
Now there are six contestants left in the competition and on Friday [25 October] they will put on a Showstopper Spectacular that promises to lift the roof off Pretoria’s Moreleta Auditorium.
