On Monday night (15 March 2009) head boy Daniel Baron was the 6th Idols hopeful to be whacked from the Top 14.
This coming Sunday (22 March) the Spectacular theme for the remaining 8 finalists is "New Millenium". Everyone could pick any song from the year 2000 and beyond.
Here's what they've chosen:
Cameron - “Breakeven” by The ScriptBreakeven was released as the third single from the band’s self-titled album The Script. The Script are a three-piece Irish pop rock band from Dublin, who are currently based in London.
Graeme - “Clocks” by Coldplay“Clocks” was written by all members of the band for their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head. Built around a repeating piano riff, the song features cryptic lyrics of contrast and urgency themes. Several remixes of the track exist and its riff has been widely sampled. "Clocks" won Record of the Year at the 2004 Grammy Awards and, to date, is one of Coldplay's most successful songs.
Jason - “Love’s Divine” by SealIn 2004, “Love’s Divine” was released as the lead single from Seal’s fourth studio album Seal IV. It became a big hit in several European countries.
Lendel - “Closer” by Ne-Yo“Closer” was released as the first single from American pop/R&B singer Ne-Yo’s third album Year of the Gentleman. It has been described as a musical departure for Ne-Yo, taking on a dance pop style over the more rhythmic and urban sound his songs usually possess.
“Closer” reached the number one spot on the UK Top 10 and became the fifteenth biggest selling single in the UK in 2008 according to BBC Radio 1’s chart of the year.
Lize - “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley“Crazy” is the first single from the musical collaboration between Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo, and is taken from Gnarls Barkley’s 2006 debut album St. Elsewhere.
It became a top ten hit throughout Europe, North America and Oceania, in the first half of 2006, reaching number one of the single charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Canada, New Zealand and other countries.
The song won a 2007 Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance, and was also nominated as Record of the Year.
Pixie - “I’m Outta Love” by Anastacia "I'm Outta Love" was released on Anastacia's debut studio album Not That Kind (2000) and was the song that made her famous. It reached number one in Australia and New Zealand and reached the top ten in Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Switzerland.
Sasha Lee - “Run” by Snow Patrol (recently covered by Leona Lewis)
Leona Lewis performed a tear-jerking cover of "Run" on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge on 31 October 2007. She later released the song as a single from Spirit: The Deluxe Edition in November 2008. "Run" became the UK's fastest-selling digital release ever, selling 69,244 copies in just two days. Due to its popularity, Lewis recorded a studio version of the song in September 2008 for the re-release of her album Spirit.
Thembi - “Right Here by Brandy"Right Here (Departed)" was featured on Brandy’s fifth studio album Human (2008). Its lyrics chronicle a woman's talks about mutual support with loved ones.
Her first release in four years, it was officially serviced to U.S. radios on August 25, 2008. The song has since reached the number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, as well as number 22 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and the top ten of the French Singles Chart.
