On Idols last night:

From the press release:

caroline

After the glamour of their performances this weekend it was quite a comedown for the Idols contestants last night (22 October) as they had to bid Caroline Borole farewell.

To start off the Results show and get a feel for the lay of the land, Colin revealed the results of the nationwide roundup of some of the country’s DJ’s:

94.5 KFM’s Richard Hardiman thought Yolanda Nabo’s time was up;
Damon Beard from East Coast Radio said Caroline had to leave the competition;
From Central South Africa’s OFM came the vote for Caroline, via Lindsay Batteson, co-host of The Sound Express;
Pabi Moloi from Yfm thought Munro’s cheesy performance of “Sweet Caroline” was too much and he had to go;
Jacaranda 94.2 FM’s Maurice Carpede said it was Daniel’s turn to go home;
And Selwyn Willis from Algoa FM agreed that Daniel should leave.

In a turn-up for the books, the judges’ combined votes put Caroline, Daniel and Jody in their bottom three. Then it was time to calculate the influence of the viewers’ votes. After a tense commercial break, Colin revealed that Jody was safe. That left Caroline and a very nervous Daniel. Then Colin revealed that Caroline had garnered the fewest judges’ votes, and that Daniel had received enough public support to survive one more week. “I didn’t think I would get this far,” Caroline admitted. “It’s been a ride.”

Sad as they are about losing Caroline, it’s back to work for the Top 8 as they prepare their songs for the Top 8 Spectacular at the Ellispark Arena on Friday (26 October). The musical theme for this weekend is Rock.

I really didnt thing she'd leave so soon. i was betting on her staying for a couple more weeks, and thought her only threat was Bjorn and Tender . But hey, I guess on Idols, ure only as good as your last performance.. Caroline, u did good girl.

I really think that the aim was to get rid of all black ppl on Idols N I'm hating it, call me racist if you like

what i meant is that race thing is played out.

U know mina, I'm not devasted that Caroline left, becos all Idols winners tend to only be successful as far as the show lasts, after that they fade with the series.  There are many Idols contestants that make it big without being no1, for instance, look at Zama Jobe, she is a success beyond the show, yet she didn't even go as far as making it to the top 5.  So for Caroline as well, someone out there at a reputable recording company has probabbly spotted her to make her successful and showcase her beautiful voice to the nation!!!!

As for the race issue.  I am black, and all I can say is we have ourselves to blame, becoz we are good at supporting people in words but when it's time to put our money where our mouth is we fail.  We don't vote as much as the other races, therfore it's pointless moaning about the people being voted out, when we are not making a visible effort to support them and ensure they sustain in the show.

I agree with you Annonymous...
Watch this space..CAROLINE IS YET TO GO PLACES....

i also think Caroline was voted out,because she is already famous,so Idols is looking for a new face to make famous..

otherwise caroline could have gone far.....my heart is sore i really liked Caro's singing.....But however i still believe in her.....She's once done miracles on Generations so more miracles & wonders are yet to come from her..

GOOD LUCK CARO'''''

Oh man I'm so sad at Caroline leaving so soon, I've been voting for her since the beginning but felt the judges comments were her downfall. Hope she goes far in her singing career.

>>I've been voting for her since the beginning but felt the judges comments were her downfall.<<

I hope this isn't the case 'cos it'll mean people are listening to them!

Shirms - sorry, just realised you were meaning you think the judges comments had an impact on her and not the audience.
