From the press release:
With only 12 contestants left in M-Net’s Idols, the stakes are incredibly high for the contestants this week as they compete for a coveted spot in the Top 10 group that will sing in the first Idols Spectacular at the Standard Bank Arena next week.
In no particular order, here's what they plan to sing on Sunday (8 October). And remember: these are the voting numbers they will keep for the duration of the competition…
Munro du Toit sings Otis Redding’s “Mustang Sally”.
Carla Louw chose “Don’t Speak” from No Doubt.
Andriëtte Norman will perform “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman”, by Bryan Adams.
Daniel Büys is covering Michael Bublé’s version of “Fever”.
Tender Mavundla chose Toni Braxton’s “Another Sad Love Song”.
Jody Williams is doing the Whitney Houston hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
Dominic Momberg “Walking Away”, from Craig David.
Caroline Borole will sing “Show Me Heaven” by Maria McKee.
Sabelo Mthembu goes classic with The Beatles’ “Yesterday”.
Björn Blignaut sings “I Swear”, by All 4 One.
Yolanda Nabo chose “Reach”, from Gloria Estefan.
And PJ Simeoni is singing the Sinatra standard “Fly Me To The Moon”.
Sunday’s show (7 October) is the final chance for viewers to vote their favourites into the all-important Top 10 phase. Voting opens at the start of the show and viewers can vote via landline, SMS, MXit or on the Idols website at www.mnet.co.za.
The voting lines will close during Monday evening’s live Results Show (8 October). And then the action moves to the Standard Bank Arena for the first Spectacular, recorded on Friday 12 October - tickets are on sale from Computicket.
