One in seven adults sports a tattoo. With an increasing popularity amongst the public, tattoos have become part of social norms and popular culture. But there are major differences between cute little flowers and the more intricate and meaningful artwork that is done in the tattoo industry.
In Miami Ink Discovery sets up shop in South Beach to take viewers inside the colourful, painful and intriguing world of tattoo artistry.
Four friends open and run a tattoo parlour where they live, work and play. The resident artists - Ami James, Chris Nunez, Chris Garver and Darren Brass - work together to promote the art of tattoo.
The show shows them in and out of their workspace from day 'til night, and follows their late-night shenanigans. In addition to spotlighting the artists at work, each tattoo has a story to tell, a reason for being and a special relationship to its owner.
The artists’ clients range from 18-year-old newbies to famous actors and buttoned-up professionals.
