ashley_callieAshley Callie's Memorial service is happening this morning (21 February) at 10:30am at the Gardens of Johannesburg Country Club in Auckland Park.

According to Ashley's family they've chosen the venue because it has special memories for them all.

To join the remembrance to Ashley 3Talk will be changing their usual programming this evening with a special dedication show entitled: Ashley Callie - A Tribute.

Top Billing will also be paying her a special memory in tonight's show at 19h30.

Ashley was featured on the cover of the January/February 2007 cover of the Top Billing magazine and the show's currently remembering her on her their website with these quotes from the related article about her:

Nine things you didn't know about Ashley Callie (from Top Billing magazine, Jan/Feb 2007)

1. My never-fail pick-me-up when I’m down is to call a friend and slowly work through everything. The phone bill is always worth it!
2. I never leave home without my sunglasses.
3. Love is acceptance - my best times are spent with people I love and who love me.
4. I lose my cool when people act with no regard for others. Thinking it’s ‘all about you’ and not taking anyone else into consideration is unacceptable – even if you are stressed.
5. I really wish I had more time.
6. I laugh whenever I can.
7. I’m most at peace when I have managed to do good work.
8. I simply cannot resist turning the music up very loud.
9. I’m scared of not progressing. Not building. Not learning the lesson. Causing hurt to those I love. Not being true to myself. Making assumptions.

Cant believe she is gone.

I remember when she was accepting the SAFTA and made a tribute to Lebo Mathosa and begged SA stars to drive safe, wear seat belts and dont drink and drive because SA still needed them. Little did we know she would lose her life in a car accident. *sobs*

No Spopo, Noleen will be going solo with her usual shubu structure self........LOL

Neway I think these tributes to her are really great, but I can't help but wonder why do they always leave these wonderful tributes for death??? Why can't we commemerate people while they are alive. Why can't they have a special tribute to good SA artists who are good at what they do when they can still appreciate it. Usefile uAshley and now they are praising her and acknowledging the fact that she was one of SA's best actresses, but when she was alive there was NEVER any helabaloo about her existance. Neway that's my thoughts, thanks for the info, I've got a late business meeting and I know it's gonna go on for long coz it's an important deal that I HAVE to close TODAY!!!............So I won't make it for both 3Talk and topbilling this evening, but ke I know my bloggers, they gonna keep me well informed as per normal............*wink wink*

@Nonny, i think they are already ding that in SA(commemorating Best Artist) with the AWARDS, SAFTA's,  SAMA's and now Mzantsi Starts. i believe the motive behind those things is to commemorate  our best artist. But that's only my thought

Kaloku Nonny the death of someone is like the last chapter of their book, so all these tributes are kinda like a summary, the industry is doing its bit with the awards, how else can u "pay tribute" to some one who is still alive, they have fan and blog sites for the very reason, where one can go on and on about how much they love this and that other actor/artist, so all in all I think that they do give a LOT of acknowledgement while people are still alive( this has been made so much easier with the world of Facebook, TVSA,  le wat wat)

ashley callie will receive the award which she is nominated for, in commemorane maybe, however i believe it is because of that all- intreging talent that she displayed on our televisions form day to day. i can not say how much i already miss her, althought i still c her on television. hust the thought of her not going to be there makes me sad. how more is the hurt the callie's are experiencing.

love you all

@KittyKat, I think you explain that so well. When someone in the public figure dies, we cant not pay tribute, and carry on as we did, with the normal facebooking and tvsa'ing. Thats like saying someone who dies must just be left alone, no funerals and what not. It is, as KittyKat says, its somewhat of a summary, and a goodbye from those who know the deceased, or those whose hearts and lives they touched.

Since SA is one hour ahead of Nigeria, when do you think I can watch it on 3talk and topbilling?  I need help on this.

Someone should please help me out, I don't want to miss it.  Or would there be a repeat of it?  Please I need a response from someone who can help me out.

I feel hurt if I miss it.
