As spilt on TVSA last week, Selimathunzi's long-time presenter Mncedi 'Kaos' Matu's leaving the show so SABC1's launching a talent search to find a new presenter to take over from him.

The auditions start on Saturday, 12 March and will be happening in Jozi, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.

To audition you need to be a guy between the ages of 21 and 25 and be able to speak any of the Nguni languages.

Audition Must-Knows

You need to take your ID book along.

You can arrive and do your thang. You'll need to present as if you're on the show.

Our advice: choose a couple of example events that you can "cover" in your audition. This way you're prepared for any eventuality. If the Seli crew give you a specific brief in the audition then you can go with whatever they give you. If they don't, you'll know that you have something up your sleeve.

Also, by experimenting with examples before you'll have a strong sense of the vibe and energy you want to convey.

Give them something that makes you memorable. Something that stands out about you, either in what you wear or what you have to say or how you say it.

Don't let them forget you.

Auditions start at 09h00 but you're advised to get there as early as possible.

Audition dates and venues

Johannesburg: Saturday 12 March 2011
Venue:
SABC Henley Studios, Entrance 5, Auckland Park.

Bloemfontein: Thursday 17 March 2011
Venue: At the SABC, Bloem.

Port Elizabeth: Thursday 24 March 2011

.

If you're going for it - good luck!

I am starting to hate this towns Jozi, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The auditions for anything are always held there and what about other towns and they should start focusing on small towns as well there's lots of talents out there. They should go to Marble Hall, Groblersdal, Kuruman, Pampierstat hmmmmmmm yeah

@Maki isnt there is SABC 1,2 3, these stations have target audience they cater for, hence the language requirement...if you are not Zulu or Xhosa for instance but fluent as in 'spoken' in those languages,  you should make it..otherwise wait for SABC 2 gigs or Mzansi magic *hide*

Makisto bro, dont go there....ur Nguni is not good bhuti wam. Imagine if u were interviewing Brenda Ngxoli or Linda Sibiya, would u understand a word they say? Would u really conduct an interview or have a decent conversation with them in any Nguni language, no Xhonglish? I dont think so....wait for SABC 2 neh.

Thanks to the overall board of the SABC for this amazing opportunity. We, those with potential, will come out in numbers to take our chances coz I, like many others, will grace this amazing chance to prove that SA has worthy talent. You can sure look forward to seeing me at the audition venue. I'll be auditioning in Cape Town :-). Peace!!

TVSA Team
08 Mar 2011 09:26

@maki We've asked about the situation with the Nguni languages - auditionees have to speak them fluently - because of the languages mandate from ICASA. The mandate specifies that Nguni languages must be part of programming in the timeslot. More audition news for another show coming up sooon though.

In the meantime ...  we've updated the call with the dates for the auditions in the other cities - the venues aren' t available yet - will update here when they are.

I can't believe I never knew about the auditions, I am so angry at myself, I just found out just now. I hate agencies that don't inform their models and members about such infor. I am so angry at myself.

I know that I rock and I was born to be a star, if I could be given that chance to prove it, trust me, the cast and everyone in Mzansi will be fascinated and wowed when they see me, the star on the show. Giving life to all the fans of selimathunzi and exploring more. For those who will be contesting, here's a little quotation that you have to use in order to make it(with all the vibrancy and attitude) : Good evening Mzansi, welcome to the show. its a very good friday and ofcourse you are chilling with the one and only multitalented Loyiso rasmeni. tonight we'l be exploring everything from fashion to the latest music. Not forgeting the top parties ofcourse, ziwaphi na Mzansi?????? ziwa e Jozi na se Cape siyabhampa
