Coming up on Carte Blanche this Sunday (29 July, 2012):

Going for Gold

Sunette Viljoen Large

Two of South Africa's best medal hopes in the track and field Olympic squad are Caster Semenya and Sunette Viljoen. A recent personal best throw of 69.35 metres means that Viljoen is capable of becoming the first African to triumph in the Women’s javelin, an event dominated by Europeans. Carte Blanche caught up with her before she left for London.

Producer: Eugene Botha
Presenters: Bongani Bingwa & Devi Sankaree Govender

Glynnis Breytenbach vs NPA

What was meant to be a standard disciplinary hearing has become a major news event in the case of suspended prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach. Carte Blanche brings you Breytenbach versus the National Prosecuting Authority, on camera.

Producer: Este de Klerk
Journalists: Susan Comrie & Chwayitisa Futshane

Rebel Doctors

Health and Education ... two departments so important, yet seldom far from crises. If not non-delivery of text books, it’s a shortage of staff and equipment and, as a result, neglected patients or pupils.

Recently doctors in the Eastern Cape, a province not known for conditions conducive to good health or learning, decided enough’s enough. Carte Blanche gets out the stethoscope.

Producer: Bernadette Cook
Presenter: Derek Watts
Journalist: Chwayitisa Futshane

Making Waves

Retailers are always after a competitive edge and “green-washing” seems to be the latest fad. With many consumers trying to do the right thing when it comes to eating fish, many outlets are carrying a “sustainable” logo. But can they be trusted? Carte Blanche did some green police work, with some very fishy results.

Producer: Liz Fish
Presenters: Bongani Bingwa & Neo Motaung
Journalist: Chwayitisa Futshane

Carte Blanche is on M-Net on Sundays at 19h00.
