The first season of e.tv's reality competition The Biggest Loser South Africa came to a spectacular end on Monday night (14 April), culminating in Sharon Haarhoff from East London losing almost half her body weight and winning R250,000 in the process.

Collectively all 14 of the contestants across the show lost 546.3 kg (just over half a ton) and 413.67% in body weight.

Some were more successful than others, as our exclusive gallery below will reveal. The gallery is made up of "Before" and "After" pics of each contestant.

The "before" relates to their weight before the competition started, while the "after" is the last weight they recorded on the show.

We have listed them in order of least to most body weight percentage lost - for a full table of everyone's weight loss, click here.

poor adil! shame.. They(TBL crew or sponsors) need to support him though...

Nonny
15 Apr 2008 04:13

@ Sego - In regards to Adil, even though he needs support. He also needs to make an internal commitment to fight his weight problem and tell himself that he really wnats this (loosing weight). At times in the show he would appear to me as too dependant on others helping him to loose the weight, and for a person of his weight, he needs to believe in himself more becoz nowadays loosing weaight is not just a matter of looking good, but it's a matter of saving ur own life and living a healthy life. And I know that in life u can have all the suppport in the world, but if u are not committed enough, the support system is useless to u!!!!!!!!!!!.

It doesn't look like ADIL lost any weight at all,or am I wrong?

Nonny
15 Apr 2008 04:34

Maybe Adil could do with having a mentor like Asanda. Coz believe me it sometimes help to have a person that has recently been in ur position (or similar) to help and encourage u to wark hard at loosing the weight. Coz sadly most of the fitness trainers are health fanatics and they have never set foot in an obese or over weight person's body. But as I said b4, he needs to make an internal committment first, so that no matter how many times or how hard he keeps falling, he will keep trying until he looses that excess weight. Mna shame, I have faith in him, I just wish he had more passion!!!!

I'm really proud of everyone who has lost weight.

Its not easy but one of the reasons I love watching the biggest loser is because of the message. It says that only exercise, a healthy eating plan and loads of determination can help you lose weight.

Please inform us when the second season is on and also regarding applications. I have a friend who has been a fan and is trying on her own but I think the constant work outs and pressure would help.
