I had initially prepared some questions with the knowledge that I might meet Lerato or/Maybe Meryl and Max. Someone had already traumatized me on how MNET peeps are very protective of the housemates and I may never even get 30 meters from Lerato… Ha ha ha, in your face.
Anyways, we drove to Lerato’s house for the interviews… Beautiful big place! Lerato welcomed me into her house and sat me comfortably on the couch. The scene was very serene and homey; Biggie was on and the sms strip was abuzz with “Thank you biggie for bringing the untouchables”, “It was great to see the untouchables again” , etc… Meryl was ecstatic and happy… Max was quite… He is a very quite person, peaceful and you really get comfortable in his silence. He seems slightly opposite of Lerato who seems a bit shy and reserved but a little more talkative than Max. He reminded me of King K; hilarious when it’s just the two of us but when around people he is not used to; quite, shy and reserved.
My questions were things that I really needed to know – and simple. I did not want to ask really hardcore journalist questions; so had 10 questions, since I had spent a lot of time with them and had shared some off the record chats.
My list of Q’s 1. With you out of the house now and I assume you have re-thought your time in the Biggie house - What would you change about the first day you saw the housemates?
2. Who do you feel deserved to win or would have won if Biggie had survivor rules; the person with the most votes leaves the house?
3. What did you miss while in the house?
4. What couldn’t you live without outside the house before you went in?
5. What can’t you live without now?
6. What was the first thing you wanted to do after you hugged your mum?
7. Have you watched yourself while in the house?
8. Except Spatula, What do you thinks of those still left in the house?
9. The biggie web writers have speculated on wedding bells… Are they ringing?
10. What would you say to someone who wanted to go into the big brother house when the next season comes along?
I am personally
not really good at Q&A type interview writing so bear with me…
Lerato… Lerato was considered a bully, too controlling and almost domineering in the house – a view that I do not agree with as I posted on my previous articles. I wanted to know the person beyond the Biggie house – the
real Lerato – when I did my interview. I did not want my warped idea of who Lerato is to be all I know about her, what I viewed when she was in there needed to be erased from my mind. She did not disappoint; she answered all my questions with enthusiasm – even though I sometimes had to compete with the Big Brother show for attention. Lerato wanted to have fun in the Big Brother house; she wanted to just experience the show. When she walked into the house and was in the company of complete strangers – she says she would not change anything about that moment. She would have walked in without a strategy and did exactly what she has done. She would not change alliances either.
Lerato has been to the penthouse so many times that she was also the only housemate to have a special visit. The guest was Jabba, HHP (Hip Hop Pantsula) as we know and love him. Vote for him on the MTV awards peeps! Vote
here. She was thoroughly pissed when RiTa got sushi on their visit to the penthouse. So, after she hugged her mom at her eviction show – she wanted good food! A sushi platter to be exact! That statement made me wonder if Lerato will ever eat Lentils and beans again – that is what the housemates consume most of the time… at least, when I am watching, that is what is cooking! No Nandos!? I would just not survive!
I have openly requested or demanded that Big Brother have the same rules as Survivor – the person with the most nominations leaves the house. That’s it! Torch light out or rather, in this case; bags into the diary room, bed out and you are gone! NO public voting! Scarf (Maureen) would have been long gone! BUT who would have been the first to go – Lerato reckons Ofunneka would have won (may still win) Justice would have been the first to leave. I think so too. Leratos’ view of the people left in the house is Boring, Boring, boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Unentertaining, Boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Boring, Unentertaining… you get the drift! But like us, she is still glued – I guess, we are just curious on who will bag the money for not being entertaining.
When you are in the big brother house you have no luxuries – well, what we would deem necessities like the web and cellphone – I am not a watch fan! So, I don’t own one, don’t need one, would not miss it and I am never on time! I try to make an effort but I can’t keep time. I also can’t get why people are always so angry when I am late - I don’t get it! Anyways, this is about Lerato’s interview, so I wanted to know what she could not live without before she went into the house, whet she really missed when she was in the house and now what she knows fo sho she can’t live without after the big brother experience. She says she could not live without her Cellphone; she missed sunglasses, ipod, car, food of her choice and her brand lip gloss; she can’t live without her cellphone and ipod now.
I was also keen to know about the biggie web writers speculation on “wedding bells” when Max and her were recently spotted at a jewellery shop in Rosebank – she maintains they were getting studs for Max. That’s it! No bells – unless the biggie web writers were in church or something. Max and her were getting studs (emphasis).
I am curious about the people that fill in an application form for reality shows – What triggers the interest? What makes them think/believe that they would be the kinda person people would like to watch in a reality show? What makes them hope to win the money? Is the real reason the money? Or is there another kind of drive, 15 minutes of fame, which makes them want to be a part of such? I asked Lerato what she would say to such people since she has experienced Reality TV; she simply says “You do not know what to expect until you are there!” Clearly, if you think you can do this – Go for it! But keep your expectation list empty…
