To start off by saying my weekend was super would be an insult to me, you, the weekend and the people that made it possible. The happenings of this weekend need a whole new word in the Collins or Oxford dictionary because I am telling you too much happened and it was just super-unreal-fanta-lovely-wonder-bul-ous-UNTOUCHABLE!!
One thing I know for sure is when something happens in your life, you need to be thankful and grateful for all of it. So I’m gonna start off track a little…
Thank you, Tashi and Luke Tagg. You guys really have no idea what you have done. I had packed away my journalism diploma as part of a dream that will never come true. When I discovered the Tashi Tagg web I knew I had to write again, but things happened and I simply could not allow myself to believe I could make it… And Nou!? I am living the Oprah quote on my homepage.
Thank you, King K and Prince K – You guys are the wind beneath my wings! I rise and float like an eagle because of your love, support and allowance to steal your time. You also still keep me grounded. I will stay with you – John Legend
Thank you, Big Mama (Have to verify if I can use her real name), Max, Lerato, Meryl, Dimago, Solele and all my friends – You guys are great!
Ok, back to my blog… This is gonna be a long article hopefully I do not lose you on the way…
On Friday I got an invite to represent TVSA at Lerato’s eviction party – needless to say I accepted and gloated about it to you for questions… Meme J, you are a star gal! Got all your questions answered… Check your PM later.
Lerato’s eviction party, on Saturday, was ssssoooo good! I got there just in time to see Lerato, Meryl and Max on stage being torn apart by fans. Eish! Sometimes we need to stop grabbing the peeps and just grab ourselves. I keep it really real so I will tell all about what I liked and disliked.
The venue was Moloko, with the great staff – thank you for letting us get down and enjoy a great party. DJ Waxy and DJ Bego got me grooving so much I forgot the best advice ever about club dancing “DON’T DANCE TILL YOU SWEAT!” I, Segololo, was sweat dancing on the stage!! I lost my shyness, right there! The highlight of MY night, note I said MY night, was when DJ Bego dropped the song “Don’t be cruel” by Bobby Brown – I was left speechless because I never thought I would hear my all time fave ancient song blasting the speakers in a full club and I could openly groove to it on a VIP stage NOGAL. That tells you a lot about me.
I, however, believe in telling people the truth so that in future they do not make the same mistake… so Moloko staff – When we pitched with my dear friend, Dimago, the guy at the door complained about our dress code… Considering I was already having wardrobe issues; which I will not disclose, I did not appreciate that. We had not even been told of any dress code, and since we are not regular clubbers we did not know of your dress code or which part of our outfit did not suit the dress code for that matter.
Bloggers, I was wearing my new skinny jeans that I bought when I was in Prague recently, a comfortable sweater top and heeled boots. Dimago, also looked fabulous in her skinny jeans, spring top and sneaky sandals. Check my gallery for pics. Those who go to Moloko please let us know what the dress code is there so we can avoid the trauma of the statement “What happened to the dress code?” Even the Biggie’s peeps did not know of such when we asked.
The club has beautiful décor, setting and scene however with the rain pouring heavily outside; drips were getting through and falling on us (THE VIP) and your beautiful suede couches on the VIP stage. Check that glass roof guys!
We had received drinks voucher’s from Biggie’s peeps and we opted to dance a bit before we claimed them. By the time we finally needed to quench our thirst we were told the voucher curfew was up… OH my gaad! Segololo was not taking that lying down, she had been gyrating her body on stage, losing her shyness, she needed a drink before she lost her consciousness and she WAS VIP (A Very Important Person, dammit!). So I simply said “Dude, make a plan!” so they sent me to another bar with a barman that complied to my request for a drink with a smile. That’s the spirit. Next time, just say – ‘The small bar by the door is for VIP” – this will make life easy for you and the VIP. Eish! I love being VIP.
The party was great! Lerato, Meryl, Max and Lerato’s Mum danced and mingled with everyone. Lovely people – I have openly told you I like them. I want to be the kind of mother Lerato’s mum is to my kids… I truly believe that if every mother in the world strived to be that loving, kind, unjudgmental and completely supportive of their children when they want to live their dreams, we would have a better society. I will write about this belief in my Little Miracles blog but for now I will say… Lerato’s mom is a wonderful star in my Little Oprah book. I learnt a lot from observing her in the club – She truly loves her daughters and will stand by them through thick and thin. It doesn’t mean that when they do what they need to do; achieve whatever dream, she has to be up all in their face and negative – she can be a part of it and simply observe, guide and advice but still let them learn whatever lesson they need to learn. AND ALSO learn to dance like your gals!! Ha ah ah! I can’t even do those moves and I am young enough to be her daughter but Mama Lerato had a great time and danced the night away.
She kept smilingly saying to me “O tlo swaba” whenever I told her “I’m taking notes for my article.” Thank you, Mama. You inspire us to be better.
Max is taller and quieter than he looks in TV, Lerato and Meryl are skinnier than they look on TV. So Needless to say, Segolarazzi was in the VIP section and needed to speak to peeps and find out alles so she can blog it back to you. In my quest for information, I was introduced to Big Mama – she organises the HM’s when they leave the house. Wonderful, kind and lovely lady – we exchanged numbers so I can meet Lerato, maybe Max and Meryl for a small interview on Sunday.
I wish I could say “The rest is history” but hell no!!! This article is far from being finished. TDC, you are gonna wish you had not written that open letter to TVSA to request us to write longer articles and not one paragraph! Ha ha ha!
On Sunday, I called Big Mama and she said “Get here at five!” – You know I would not pass up the opportunity! Ek is a Kans Vatter! I had a quick chat with my King K and got to the studio at 4:47. I met the production team and biggie web writers – Hey peeps! I know you read my blog! I still don’t like the way you subjectively write your articles and since I personally told you, do something about it!
Big Mama then called Lerato to tell her about my arrival at the studio, I chatted to Lerato a bit on the phone and when I got off the phone a suggestion was made, by yours truly, to pick them up for the eviction show from where they were. Big Mama called Lerato and she said “it’s fine!” I was so over the moon, I did not hear a word Big Mama said when she was showing me the map with directions on where to pick them up. I got lost but got there and met “The Untouchables” (wearing the T-shirrts) one on one, no crew, no other person just me and them in my dodgy car. It was just so unreal – I had to keep looking over my shoulder to see if it was happening.
During our chats, I asked about the name “Untouchable” because I was under the impression, after getting convinced by a lot of peeps, that the name came from them. This is a lie, peeps! They found this name being used by us outside the house – They did not know anything about it, someone outside started it and the label just grew. I have a sneaky suspicion it could be the biggie web writers or the sms strap. BUT THESE wonderful peeps embraced it and got themselves t-shirts with the name “The Untouchables” in front and their given names in the back… I want one too, Lerato! Mine must say Groupie Segololo on the back.
I also asked if Lerato had started the “separation” in the house by that famous breakfast we saw; Lerato making food for just Kwaku, Bertha, Meryl and Max. That was an illusion peeps! Breakfast is a one man for himself show… You make for you or anyone that asks you to, Lunch and Supper are communal do’s! Why this incident stands out in our minds and memories, search me!
When I got to the studio, I had a brief chat with Bertha and Kwaku’s mothers. They are really supportive of their children and miss them dearly. I have a sense that they did not expect the amount of torment their children will go through before they even come out the house. We are mean! We, the viewers, are mean! We make judgments, pass assumptions and make really insensitive statements without thinking about anybody outside the house related to the housemates. We do all this in the name of entertainment. The housemate’s relatives are also viewers and when the show ends they have to counsel and live with their children through the trauma of our mean and upsetting words and sms.
I would love to say Biggie organized The Untouchables for last nights eviction – but peeps, that is not the case. From what I gathered Biggie can’t do that because then he is taking sides, showing favoritism AND WE DO NOT want that. The Untouchables have gotten so close and share a bond none of us will ever know unless we are part of that house. Only they have knowledge of what goes through your mind and your self when in the house and when you come out to see the change in people and the environment. They are very protective of each other that they want to stand by their fellow housemates whether they are evicted or not. They really really really care for each other. It was amazing to see, feel and experience it.
SO, The Untouchables were standing in the audience the ENTIRE time KB was interviewing Bertha. Bertha sounded like she was too rehearsed for the interview. I was backstage feeling like I am gonna fall down with the amount of excitement – When you know about something and the world does not know, it is such an adrenaline rush! No one knew that Lerato, Meryl and Max were there, No one knew that they had an extra shirt for Kwaku or Bertha; No one knew that they were waiting IN the audience, except yours truly Segololo. I kept praying the live audience guests do not spot them and cause commotion before the announcement was made or during the interview; I was in knots! When they stepped on the stage to greet Bertha with her mom, I was relieved, excited, shocked and screaming in the backstage there like a loony!
I demanded to spend more time with them to get my interview (separate article later), so we agreed I drive them back where I found them! Ha ha ah! Truly UNTOUCHABLE groupie style, I met Lerato’s friend Sunshine and Sbo! Hi Sunshine and Sbo!
