BBC Entertainment Lights Up (Updated)

Today (1 September) sees the launch of the rebranding of the BBC Channels.

BBC Entertainment replaces BBC Prime on Channel 120 and throughout the week various BBC changes and new channels will be introduced.

BBC Lifestyle replaces BBC Food tomorrow (2 September) on Channel 180. BBC Knowledge and C Beebies launch on Wednesday (3 September) and Thursday (4 September) respectively - on Channels 251 and 306.

We'll keep you posted on the new shows and highlights for each as they go live.

A look at the line-up of premieres on BBC Entertainment across September:

Strictly Come Dancing 4
Premiere date: Monday, 1 September 2008 at 20h20

The show premieres today and thereafter runs on Sundays at 19h30 - as from 7 September.

The UK version of Strictly Come Dancing waltzes onto BBC Entertainment for its fourth season.

Broadcast in the UK in 2006, the show features14 well-known faces from the world of UK showbiz. In the line-up of celebs: former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, What Not to Wear presenter Mica Paris, TV presenter Carol Smillie, former international rugby star Matt Dawson, cricketer Mark Ramprakash and former Manchester United goalkeeper and Dirty Jobs host Peter Schmeichel.

Bruce Forsyth and his co-host Tess Daly return to present the show, along with the judging panel of Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli.



Gavin and Stacey

Having cemented their friendship after a rocky start, the detective duo are faced with some puzzling murders to solve, including the abduction and killing of a Government minister’s daughter, a murder on Lynley’s ancestral estate with the prime suspect his brother and the suspicious death of a young Asian man involving racial tension, religious extremism, family loyalties and illicit sex.

Catherine Tate returns for a third season of sketch comedy. The season introduces a new set of characters, including Ma Willow, Geordie Georgie, Ulster mum and “ I can do that” Helen Marsh.

The season also sees the return of some old favourites, most notably - mouthy teen Lauren, the sexually confused Derek, wickedly duplicitous Nan and Bernie the Irish nurse, whose care for male patients goes way beyond the call of duty.



Hotel Babylon 2

A series of one-off episodes starring psychological illusionist Derren Brown who employs psychological techniques to delve into the human mind and control human behaviour.

In the first episode entitled Heist, he tightens his psychological grip when he convinces three successful business people to commit armed robbery to steal £100,000.

Russian Roulette Live sees Brown point and shoot a loaded gun at his head using only his powers of intuition to locate the loaded barrel, whilst Séance becomes an emotional tour-de-force as 12 members of the public are subjected to an intense psychological and spiritual encounter.

In Messiah, - the final episode, Brown questions the way in which people are influenced.
