Metropolis
Date: Saturday December 8, 2007
Time: 16h00

In the late 1940s, long before Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion established Osamu Tezuka as one of the most influential animators of all time, the legendary illustrator created the classic manga Metropolis.

The retro-futuristic cautionary tale, is spectacularly rendered, combining the best in Japanese cel animation with the latest in digital technology.

Set in the future, Metropolis is a grand city-state populated by humans and robots, the cohabitants of a strictly segmented society. Detective Shunsaku Ban and his sidekick Ken-ichi search for a rebel scientist, to arrest him and seize his latest creation, Tima, a beautiful young girl. But when they locate him, Shunsaku
quickly realizes that the eccentric genius is protected by a powerful man and beyond their reach.

Starring the voices of Robert Axelrod (The Blob), Scott Weinger (Aladdin), Dave Mallow (Gate Keepers), Tony Pope (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) and Simon Prescott (Akira). Directed by Rintaro (2001).

Speed Grapher

Ten years after the Bubble War, the dichotomy between the world’s rich and the poor becomes more prominent and Japan is no exception. With the rich selfishly focused on satisfying their desires, Tokyo has emerged as a materialistic metropolis.

Saiga, once a war photographer, works for Hibara Ginza and is tasked with infiltrating Roppongi Club, a secretive base located in Tokyo’s red light district area, to collect information about them. However, when he is caught in the process and brought forward to a girl called Kagura, she awakens his special
ability: the power to make things explode once photographed. In order to unravel the mystery behind the Roppongi Club and Kagura, Saiga begins his solitary battle.
