So Khanyi has a Bio Coming Up

Written by Cheesa from the blog Cheesa Chat on 23 Mar 2011

So Khanyi Mbau will have a biography that is going to be written by Lesley Mofokeng the City Press journalist. We know Lesley Mofokeng likes writing about the controversial celebs. I believe he is the journalist that always followed MaBrrr and wrote many controversial articles about her. He is also the journalist that Sophie Ndaba opened up to about her divorce.

I think he thought since people always buy every publication that has Khanyi Mbau on the cover, why not just write a book about her maybe it will sell like Sunday World, Drum, Move, Sunday Sun etc. Khanyi Mabu has also attracted a lot all powerful journalists such as Redi Direko, Debra Patta etc.

Apparently they have investors and a publisher to help make this book happen, which means those investors believe this book will sell because it’s Khanyi Mbau. It’s said that this Khanyi Mbau biography is going to be A Tell All. She will be mentioning names from politicians, business man to entertainment people.

I just hope she won’t be mentioning people’s names just to sell her book. I hope she will be mentioning them because they are really worth mentioning in the book and they are part of her story.

We have read so much about Khanyi Mbau in newspapers and magazines week in week out and she always causes noise like recently with the True Love cover story. We can even say we know everything about her but we don’t know everything.

We know mostly about her love affairs more than anything. So for some reason I think she can write this book for those who have been wondering about her upbringing and background after they have read the shocking stories about her in media.

I think if she is going to start from the beginning of her life, how she grew up until now it would actually make an interesting read than starting from now when she is famous. I think if Khanyi Mbau would be very honest in her book (but we know she comes across as honest in her interviews on TV etc) about everything not just her love affairs with Mandla Mthembu and Thenuis Crous but about her background and how her family feels about all the things she does it might be an interesting read.

I think writing about her upbringing and background, how she grew up and all will also be a good thing for those people who always have questions about her upbringing and background when they read those controversial stories about her. Maybe it might help them understand why she does the things she does since some people believe that the way a person behaves has everything to do with her/his upbringing and background (nb I’m not saying the book should be mainly about her background).

I think when the book is going to get into chapters about now that she is famous we might read stuff that we have read before in magazines, newspapers etc as Khanyi Mbau has done a number of tell all interviews, which is what makes other people say they wont be buying the book.

I hope she remembers everything that she said in those so that she doesn’t say this happened while she said that happened in magazines, newspapers etc, unless she was lying in those publications.

Once upon a time she had a reality show coming up. Anyway are you buying this book or not, why?

Here are other celebs that have books and it’s mostly the controversial type.

Springbok star Joost van der Westhuizen’s biography, Joost: The Man in the Mirror by David Gemmell New biography reveals how lust made rugby star betray his pregnant wife.

To The Point  by Herschelle Gibbs
In his own (very frank) words, Herschelle Gibbs chronicles the ups and downs of his personal and professional life. He describes what it’s been like to be part of the Proteas set-up for the past 14 years, through the controversies of its various captains, coaches and administrators.

Candice Derman is a well-known actress. She was acting on etv soapie Backstage as Stephanie and then later as Blue in Generations. She then moved to join Scandal on etv as Samantha.

She also has a book called “Indescribable”, in which she tells her childhood story of being raped almostly daily by her stepfather. She was on 3rd degree this week talking about.

Maybe we will see Khanyi Mbau on 3rd degree again after her book is done. Apparently it will be launched in August on Woman’s Day.

She will be mentioning names from politicians, business man to entertainment people.   - Prays that she will be telling the truth and not trying to sell her book with lies... that might end up hurting people.
She also has a book called “Indescribable”, in which she tells her childhood story of being raped almostly daily by her stepfather. She was on 3rd degree this week talking about. - would love to read ths book...

I will be buying her book, just to hear her side of the story. I just hope she will be frank and not only put what makes her look good on the book. I want to read about u Khanyi the daughter, the mother of Khanu and how she is getting on with her daily life. In fact I think Khanyis reality show would have been more entertaining than this Nonclaire isht.

Im buying the book to get her Version of the story. We only know the medias version. Y not let her tell us abt her story. I buy every publication that has Khanyi on the cover other than that i wont buy the publication. Her start was the True Love mag that she realy got to me as deeply as she knows herself. I neve knew she felt like that

23 Mar 2011 13:17

Awoa bathong but I like that first picture. Mna I will wait for a review and see. She will be lucky if I buy that book as I didnt buy the True Love mag. I just get tired with her stories some times as I feel its all the same thing with same names Mandla, Thienus and Primrose. And its all about being controversial to stay relevant.

I didnt understand why she got a cover from the first place as it was quite about her, now True Love did her a favour by putting her on cover so she can be back on people's lips again.

Someone must buy it and make a review maybe just maybe I might buy it. She will be lucky if I do as I've never bought a book for *hides far away from book worms lol*

Dear Cheesa

Askies for the offtopic.

I saw a copy of Move! magazine at Shoprite last night, pages through and came across the Buyile Mdladla story. That Carol woman has dragged her children into the whole thing... and as it turns out the "Connie" in Buyile's life turns out to not be of True Self. I thought of you coz I do want to say something about the story, yazi.

makisto
23 Mar 2011 13:31

Apparently they have investors and a publisher to help make this book happen, which means those investors believe this book will sell because it’s Khanyi Mbau.
Count me out, I'm not one of the people who will be buying the Khanyi nonsense. I am buying Candice's Indescribable. But it's good that Lesley has a publisher and a sponsor. This will boost his name.

I just hope she won’t be mentioning people’s names just to sell her book. I hope she will be mentioning them because they are really worth mentioning in the book and they are part of her story.
Then, it will not be the real Khanyi Mbau.

I think if she is going to start from the beginning of her life, how she grew up until now it would actually make an interesting read than starting from now when she is famous.
I couldn't agree more. I will only read the excerpt in You magazine. I am not prepared to invest my money in this.

I think when the book is going to get into chapters about now that she is famous we might read stuff that we have read before in magazines, newspapers etc as Khanyi Mbau has done a number of tell all interviews
A good biographer always goes behind all the headlines and finds new info

Maybe we will see Khanyi Mbau on 3rd degree again after her book is done. Apparently it will be launched in August on Woman’s Day.
I don't think her book is worth it. With Candice's book, it's different, though it sound more like an advertorial for the book, I think there is some powerful message behind last night's show. If Debora does this for her show, my fears would be confirmed that she is stooping ery low to up her ARs. Phela since the year started, we have been fed boring stories every week and it is only  last night's show that's worth mentioning.

It is an insult to all women that Khanyi's book is launched on Women's Day!

*lemme see what other blogger are saying*

Cheesa
23 Mar 2011 13:35

Hehehe Carino I actually have that Move and I read the story you are talking about. Carol is out hand she even showed her children in the mag even if they are not shown thier faces but we can see them. Shem poor children they are even showing thier scars on the mag as proof that Connie (stepmom) abused them.

as it turns out the "Connie" in Buyile's life turns out to not be of True Self tjo what do you mean? Buyile confirmed it in the side bar on that same page that he is in a relationship with Connie but not Ferguson. And this Connie bought him two expensive cars and they leave in a mension in which Connie was abusing the children.

I just couldn't believe it when Carol's mother said Buyile would watch as his children got beaten by Connie and that he helped Connie throw the children's clothes in the yard as Carol came to fetch her children accompanied by police, ayi I'm not sure. Can this Buyile guy be that heartless about his children bathong!

And they say he is back on generations next month, ayi!

Tjo hayi this Mdladla drama is tiring!

23 Mar 2011 13:39

Heheh...this books thing. Mine is coming soon too.
kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *dead on the floor*

I should also write a book about myself

didnt buy the True Love mag. I just get tired with her stories
You did well by saving your R20.99

Someone must buy it and make a review maybe just maybe I might buy it.
I can only review it ifLesley can give me a free review copy. Maybe I should call him and ask for a free review copy

That Carol woman has dragged her children into the whole thing... and as it turns out the "Connie" in Buyile's life turns out to not be of True Self. I thought of you coz I do want to say something about the story, yazi.
Me too, when I saw the mag and i broswed at Shoprite while I was buying my groceries, I thought Cheesa would do something. Does this Buyile character REALLY have a relationship with Connie? How pathetic. After he and Shona spoke man to man he goes on to say this nonsense about Connie, jeer maan, this Buyile character ke ledada

makisto
23 Mar 2011 13:42

Tjo, I don't buy the nonsense that Connie abused Buyile and Carol's children. Until Connie comes out and responds to this, I shall take all stories made about Connie as untrue.

Cheesa
23 Mar 2011 13:43

with Connie? How pathetic. After he and Shona spoke man to man he goes on to say this nonsense about Connie, jeer maan, this Buyile character ke ledada he said its not Ferguson Makisto.

So Move! is cashing in on the powerful Connie brand!? Now I get Carino on the not True Self Connie

maybe Carol should write a book lol
She has many people who don;t like her (me included) so who will buy her book? Will she make commission lol? I would rather wait for the year that Connie will write her autobiography and or a biography about her is written.

carino
23 Mar 2011 14:07

So Move! is cashing in on the powerful Connie brand!?

Thats what i though too, choma.. coz the cover screams "Im in love with Connie and Im a good Father"  only to page through and find tha the Connie he's referring to is some lose cannon who makes children eat bread and peanut butter.  hehehe...these kids should also write their own books, mostaan..

makisto
23 Mar 2011 14:14

Thats what i though too, choma.. coz the cover screams "Im in love with Connie and Im a good Father"
I saw that and I was like oh please. They go on to use Connie's name in a bid to increase sales!? Jeer. Luckily I can still read it at Shoprite without buying it to boost their marketing gimmick.

nd find tha the Connie he's referring to is some lose cannon who makes children eat bread and peanut butter.
And the cover doesn't make that very clear. You know chomi, this is part of my mini dissertation for my honours degree. I am going to be interviewing these people wbout it you know. I will then do my analysis and my reccomendations

Cheesa
23 Mar 2011 14:52

But the woman's name is Connie nje and they didnt say her surname even in the story maybe to protect her identity as she is not famous as yet, maybe next time ke when Buyile and his woman do a cover with Move defending themselves maybe Connie might show herself...Maki you should know kaloku abuti that vele a headline should grab a reader to actually go to the counter and buy the mag. I also thought haibo uthini na ngoku uBuyile, Connie!! But it turned its not Ferguson.

makisto
23 Mar 2011 15:06

Maki you should know kaloku abuti that vele a headline should grab a reader to actually go to the counter and buy the mag.

I know that Cheesa but journalism ethics say a headline should not be misleading. As much as I am all for grabbing reader's attention, that must be done in a sensible manner which doesn't take the reader's expectations for a ride. There has to be a line. There had to be some sort of clarity on that cover, something like, I'm now in love with another Connie. It wouldn't have harmed their cover.

As journalists we have a responsibility of not misleading readers and or viewers. As I said, this is all part of my dissertation lol. What happened to ethical celebrity journalism. Why are we playing at the ANC's trap of them implementing the Media Appeals Tribunal? Besides, it shouldn't be about the MAT, it should be about ethics and good journalism practice.

carino
23 Mar 2011 15:18

Im with maki on this one. Its unethical to make me pick the magazine up just because Im connecting it to the Connie that I know.. only to find out thats not the case. It's like saying...

President buys New Showers... of course i'll jump and buy the newspaper thinking thats msholozi rolling his wives...  only to find out the story is actually about Sun International importing showers for Sun City. lol.

Naaah... wrong example, that one would be a joke.....

but i just mean, let the cover speak what inside, and dont play with my emotions.  There is a thin line between grabbing attention and just plain disrespect.

makisto
23 Mar 2011 15:47

Naaah... wrong example, that one would be a joke.....

Carino, let's say
President Zuma in hot water only to buy the paper and find out that it is Zuma's distance relative, who is a President of the Regional Bank of Southern Africa Development Community who is in hot waters. Yes he is still a Zuma but rather say SADC Bank President Zuma in hot waters. No creating false expectations.

let the cover speak what inside, and dont play with my emotions.
My point exactly!

There is a thin line between grabbing attention and just plain disrespect.
I will be forced to write an article about this now.

Cheesa
24 Mar 2011 08:23

Makisto and Carino Move didn’t mislead you. It’s not their fault that you can only think of one Connie in South Africa. The name of the new woman in Buyile’s life is Connie. What did you want them to write, it’s not like they said Connie* and at the bottom wrote “not her real name”, NO they didn’t.

Yes they knew that since the woman’s name is Connie you are automatically going to think its Connie Ferguson since she was mentioned in previous stories about the Mdladla’s and that is not their problem. I believe they are not cashing in on Connie Ferguson’s name. If you insist that they are cashing on who ever I can only say they are cashing in on your mind since you are going to automatically think of Connie Ferguson.

I think even if that woman’s name was Thandi they were going to write Thandi it’s a bonus to them and a coincidence that the woman’s name is Connie.

I mean they weren’t going to say “oh no guys this woman’s name is Connie so therefore lets not write it on the cover coz people are going to think its Connie Ferguson”, no unless you were expecting them asslick. Coz really its not their problem that the name of the new woman in Buyile’s life shares a name with Connie Ferguson.

I personally say these publications are cashing in on famous people’s name when they have a headline like this, “Madiba’s grand-child stole milk at Shoprite” that’s when I say they are cashing on the person’s name because Madiba’s grand-child has his/her name. I really don’t think Move did anything wrong there.

Cheesa
24 Mar 2011 08:35

Yes they knew that since the woman’s name is Connie you are automatically going to think its Connie Ferguson since she was mentioned in previous stories about the Mdladla’s and that is not their problem.

No Cheesto, it immediately casts responsibilities on their side not to mislead readers. As a Move! reader, I was misled lol.

I can only say they are cashing in on your mind since you are going to automatically think of Connie Ferguson.
Kwaaaaaaaaaaaa Cheesa, they are not because I only browsed through the thing at Shoprite. They only misled my mind.

Coz really its not their problem that the name of the new woman in Buyile’s life shares a name with Connie Ferguson.
True but journalists have responsibilities to their readers. On the other hand, it necessitates them to to be responsible journalists.

I really don’t think Move did anything wrong there.
Please look at my Zuma analogy and tell me what your take on it is.

Space abuti you should know that space is limited sometimes.
When I looked on that cover, the space was going to accommodate the word "another"

And you should know a healine should be as short as possible.
True, short and to the point but not misleading.

as I said its not thier problem that you only know and can think of one Connie is South Africa.
They know that there were malicious rumours about Connie and Buyile so this takes us back to journalism principles especially in this instance.

“Madiba’s grand-child stole milk at Shoprite” that’s when I say they are cashing on the person’s name because Madiba’s grand-child has his/her name.
There is nothing wrong with that because they are reporting on the truth and are not misleading anyone, just facts presented to us fairly, square and simple

Cheesa
24 Mar 2011 09:33

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaa Cheesa, they are not because I only browsed through the thing at Shoprite. They only misled my mind.  You might have not bought the magazine because of that but other people might have.

True but journalists have responsibilities to their readers. On the other hand, it necessitates them to to be responsible journalists.
Haibo responsible for what in this case, they didnt do anything wrong they only wrote the name of the new woman in Buyile's life which is Connie unless the got the name wrong and wrote Connie instead of Cannie.

When I looked on that cover, the space was going to accommodate the word "another"
You cant finalised that by just looking, there might have been no space for them to write that when they were working on Indesign or maybe it was going to make the cover trashy to wriet uncessary words in the cover.

True, short and to the point but not misleading.
I think we will just have to agree to disagree on this one as I still say that was not misleading according to me.

They know that there were malicious rumours about Connie and Buyile
Vle they know, so? what must they do, say that woman's name is Thandi when its Connie. Makisto its a coincidence that the two woman share a name thats all.

There is nothing wrong with that because they are reporting on the truth and are not misleading anyone
I didnt say misleading I said cashing in.

Yes he is still a Zuma but rather say SADC Bank President Zuma in hot waters. I agree with you in this case but its different with the story on Move. I dont think they should have wrote "another Connie"  as you wished. Are they always going to have "another" before every celeb's name that is shared with the audinary person, hayi noh!
