TVSA article ruffles Feathers

Post the yawnfest that was the 2012 Feather Awards, TVSA blogger Makisto uploaded a 3 way blogger-fest goss and dirt column recapping the event and being the savvy bunch we are, we at TVSA tweeted the link to the article and Cc'd the @FeatherAwardsSA.........and then the wheels came off!

It goes without saying that within the walls of the Feather Awards offices reign the word "Drama" more than any other verb, and it didn’t come as a surprise when @FeatherAwardsSA replied to TVSA's with a rock-splitting text bomb tweet. See the "twar" below:

Respond from the Feathers:

Makisto's Response tweet:

Tazteeq's Response:

South Africans have over the years been forced-fed and swallowed mediocrity in silence, this has led to more and more F+ and low class productions because the public has settled for less with everything. TVSA's coverage on the Feathers had lots of criticism and positive feedback summed, but the Feather Awards Office decided to focus on the bad and lash back.

The aim of the coverage is for them to improve in their next installment and not attack anyone or promise them exclusion, or did they think they hit the bull's temple so much so that they expected every media coverage to sing songs of praises? Feather Awards organizers should learn from the SAMAs committee, that’s all.

All in all, the Feather Awards were ok but left so much to be desired thus TVSA extends it’s humble apology for ruffling the Feathers a little too much.

Whether the organizers are going to exclude TVSA in their invites next year, it’s a mystery, but we will be expecting an invite so that we can go experience a well organized and improved event worthy of TV, 'cause anyone can bet that the Feather awards 2012 were far below average and anyone who believes in growth and is keen on improvement will tell it like it, just like we at TVSA.

Hahaha!!! Talk about a joke! We're not your average suck-up industry people or publications. We tell it like it is. If it was good we'll say it, if it wasn't - that's exactly what will happen. Threatening us with sanctions for telling the truth reaks of unethical practices!  *Is this where we call the Hawks for an enquiry?* #RollingEyes

There's no way you can compare the Feathers to the SAMAs. The latter has a budget of over 4 million rands, while the former only has just over 100k to put the show together. P.S. "Drama" is not, and never will be a verb. #English101

Thanks for English101 LemonTwist...and very true Sobza, Drama is indeed a noun!

Please note that we were not comparing the SAMAs to the Feathers...The reason i said the Feather people should learn from the SAMA committee is because the SAMA's in 2011 were such a mess that everyone griped and told it like it is, if your memory serves you right, didnt those guys at least improve from their madness in this year's awards?

I just wanna say that I cannot suck up to people or celebrities. If an event is great an event is great and it it is not it is not. You should have been at the launch. After the launch, I wrote an article stating how wonderful the launch was because that was true.

But the same cannot be said about the the gala evening. Yes, SAMAs did not impose sanctions on the media after it wrote how bad the the 2011 show was and in 2012, things improved because the media wrote how bad things were in 2011.

In media studies, the media is also known as the Fourth Estate and it has to be fair, balanced and objective in its reporting. Public interest also is crucial. It is in the public interest that the media tell it like it is. And in any democratic dispensation, people are are encouraged to disgree and debate issues, not impose sanctions.

Yesterday I read a Shwashi article about how bad this year's Feathers were, I guess they will also impose sanctions on the Sunday World.

I just want to say that I am a cat with 9 lives. If they officially do not invite TVSA, it does not mean we will not attend. We will attend and come back to write nothing but the truth

That is all I wanted to say

@Lemon Twist next time try reading slowly to understand and not just to comment.... Tazteeq was not comparing budgets.
Feather awards must take both negative and positive comments and improve on that...

Maki and Taz you worry about small things. Mina I'm off to Mangaung the plot is thickening. My fellow opponents are gearing up hijacking the sports awards and gospel shows. I should be there early with that inyanga ye Bafana yango 2010.

What a yawn fest the feathers were! I can't believe that they expected a glorious coverage of them! They were soo disorganised and boring it wasn't even funny! They should focus on improving them since they get so much support from celebs. They are always well attended even by people like Meshack Mavuso who you hardly see at events.

Honestly, they were saved by Somgaga as the MC. Lerato and Bujy were also a yawnfest

LOLest!!!!!! The Feathers peope need to calm down though yhini? Were you guys supposed to say the awards were oh so great even if they were not just because you wanna crack next year's invite?

Hayi no it doesn't work like that with media kaloku. Media is supposed to tell it like it is, it's only the liker of things who would suck up to them just because they are begging for next year's invite no matter how bad the awards were as long as they gonna be at the awards next year.

True Vesa what you say about these awards being well attended by celebs even though they are small-nyana awards. They should really up their game seeing that celebs attend them well which attracts media attention. Its even worse this year they will be broadacasted by SABC1 which is a biggest channel they should have really worked hard to impress so that they get to be shown next year as well.

I agree with you Taz on the SAMAs comparison. The Feathers people should learn from them on how to take criticism. It is not to kill them but help them improve and it sure helped with the SAMAs as they were good this year compared to last year and the media gave them praises for that.

LOLest!! deathby Sobza with HIZZ!

Sympomatic of the dearth of meritous & entertainment in South Africa ...
also sympomatic of the apathy and/or lack of the perception of class or quality in South Africa.

.. lastly ... just because one works in entertainment industry & becomes a "Celebrity" (I Still have no clue of what the word means) does not mean that one's standards have risen to any measurable value.

A Bussload of idiots is going to be a busload of idiots, no matter how they are dressed.
