Idols nineties and naughties thrill

This season of Idols has to go down as the most tough and unpredictable ever. The competition is in its Top 5 stage and still no clear winner. With Musa’s raging fanbase, Zoe’s fast-growing popularity, early-favorite Brenden’s culminating light, Sonke’s consistent rising ball and Bunny’s constant superlative vocal delivery, the game can be anyone else’s. It’s even harder to predict who might grab the dust tomorrow. As we review performances from last night’s show …

Although Musa chose two songs which were very similar, his vocals were power. His version of R. Kelly’s “Bump N Grind” had the same control as Dave Hollister’s “Cant stay” which actually went on some gospel route. Musa is GREAT and he’s a tough contender, BUT he doesn’t have the commercial “Idol” appeal. His future in the business looks bright but Idols might not be his breakthrough. He is the current front-runner and if no one peaks, he might just snatch the title unsuspected.

Bunny’s versatile choices were right on point. Her rendition of Simphiwe Dana’s “Ndiredi” proved yet again how much of a broad singer Bunny is. The performance of the 90’s club-hit “Show me love” by Robin S was incredible. After this week I doubt she would be in the bottom 3. She has the formula right and she on the right track, if unnoticed, she is another potential victor.

After a million of failed “killing me softly” auditions we’ve painfully experiences, I was worried about Sonke’s choice of The Fugees 1995 hit. Sonke handled it with power and made it the hit it was known for without adding dramatics. It was his take of Michael Buble’s “Havent Met you yet” which came flat on the ears and suddenly, since the top 10 I was seeing Sonke’s possibility of a win flash towards the bottom three direction.

Brenden was yet again a yellow-mellow. None of his performances brought goose-bumps and sweaty palms. From the sexy steamy Usher-made “Nice and Slow” to Nigerian-singer Asa’s “Jailer”, Ben 10 felt like a force of uncertainty on stage. Too much vocal gymnastics. Be that as it may, his teenage followers cheered like nobody was watching. Either him or Sonke will be sacrificed tomorrow for an "even" Top 4! Don’t say I didn’t tell you…

Zoe is a special kid. She can be sexy, tough, delicate and gruesome on stage. Of the five finalists she is the ultimate performer, but vocally the weakest. Something tells me she’d produce hits like Rihanna. Her performance of Destiny’s Child 2001 mega-hit “Survivor” was a hot-loud mess but the theatrics and bum shorts made it easier to endure. Her take on Janet Jackson’s “Together again” was a complete YES! She might be save for another week, but all round she was the weakest in last night’s showcase.

Have you voted? Who stood out for you? Who will go home?

Oh wow skeem, great review hey. Zoe looked stunning last night

Indeed it has become very difficult to predict who will win this. Musa and Sonke plus Bunny are my top three.

Deathby Randall saying all the other 5 who left was good they left and the remaining top 5 deserved to be there. Such drama queen tendencies though

I am voting for Sonke, yes lastnight wasnt the best of the best but whenever he opens his mouth to sing he sound beautiful, he has got the most beautiful voice and to me he is versatile. So team Sonke lets vote for our guy please tu, i am sure next week he will choose songs that will make him popular. Atleast Brenden or Zoe can go home

I didn't watch last night's performances, but that did not stop me from voting my favourite.....even if ubhedile, he's been consistent throughout. Plus his music will sell as he has proven when he performed local songs

When this season started I loved Brenden but when time went on I fell for Sonke but last night Brenden I fell inlove with bounced back, today I'm busy voting for both of them I want both of them to be on top4 and hopefully top3. Zoe should go home she's not a singer but a performer glad that judges noted her noisy voice last night.

@MsKim we don't judge Sonke based on one performance he's been delivering from the start that's why we keep voting for him.

Musa is so boring!! And he always chooses the same, predictable type of songs. I honestly see him as an older, less exciting version of Khaya. Bunny was fantastic on both performances, whilst Brenden had one of his better nights. Sonke & Zoe struggled this week, and although Sonke did alright with the first song, it was kinda stale and boring. I'm thinking Zoe or Bunny is going home, but I wouldn't mind Musa going.

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa but that's a good way of voting. Favoured, nnako, I will only vote for Sonke if Bunny leaves. For as long as she is there, I am voting for her. She is beautiful. I like her

I think that Musa and Brendan will be fine, ( my votes) went to Brendan last night. The MEC for Culture, Sports and Recreation in the Mpumalanga Privince has asked everyone to vote for Ben 10 and Musa. She sent out emails to each government official in and around the Goverment complex requesting our support. The whole government complex is full of their posters. Although Musa is my homeboy, i dont have much faith in him. He is more of a church choir singer. Finally Randall and Gareth addressed Zoe last night about her aggresive singing. Randall said that he feared for her about what will happen Tuesday, i agree 100% fully with Randall. I think that she willl be leaving tomorrow. Sonke was a letdown last night. I think its becoz he has become a bit arrogant and too self-assured. Bunny was great. Loved both her performances.

I watched the repeat of Idols and I know how one bad performance can send one packing, so for Sonke to be safe.....I have trippled my voting knowing very well that I cannot rest. I finally managed to download mxit, loaded some moola then voted like crazy....its cheaper than the sms, I have been voting every hour on the idols website as well. Sonke is gonna be safe come Tuesday night

Bunny stole my heart, she's become my favourite. Voted for the 1st time today and I hope she won't find herself at the bottom again this week. Brenden also delivered shem, but Sonke and Musa remain my favourite guys.

Watched the repeat last night and it was a great show def no clear winner.

Musa, Bunny and Sonke are just great nothing else. (My top 3)

Athoutgh i only liked "kiling me soflty" by Sonke (best ive heard after the original)  i think he slacked a bit on the second song but he has been so good we can allow.

Brenden really did his best and chose songs that suited him.

Zoe was also ok, but one must die and thats you Ms Zoe.

Sonke aint going nowwhere guys, if it comes down to that i think the judges will save him.

Yeah I also think the judges would save Sonke if he were to be up for elimination tonight.  But it is Zoe who must go.
