Television is an exciting medium and most of the time it’s very structured and in some rear viewings, you are left with scenes which remain forever carved in your heart, soul and mind. As an observer, I suffer from a unique condition which refuses to let me forget anything. It does not matter when or how it happened, I will remember with painful detail. I was once asked to seriously consider joining the F.B.I, this was after my memory and other abilities which I prefer not to go into. Anyway…off topic. We watch as they delight in carefully crafted scenes featuring some of the most moving and perhaps funny moments which we will never forget, whilst others are so funny you smile all week.
With that said, I introduce you to
“TheTVObserver’s Memorable Moments”, of course all those moments are television related and you will not only get my opinions on such scenes but you will actually watch them on video, courtesy of my youtube channel and external sources. I call them memorable because they have been setting up camp in my mind and I thought I will share them with you. Maybe you will also share yours.
Whenever I observe television, I find it very interesting that very little will ever move me, however, on one boring evening whilst channel hoping I found a scene on SABC1 which left me in a state of sheer shock and wonder. As saw talent call upon my heart to stand up and pay attention as a human being demonstrated a profound ability to dig so deep into their soul to sing in such passion and sincerity that I found myself teary eyed.
Here is the video…please enjoy!

Now that we have exhausted our Kleenex, I think we need something light. Perhaps something to make us smile….
Whilst in the spirit of musical moments, here is a lady who completely stole my heart. If you follow my Last.fm and Ilike profiles and what I listen to, you know that I am a classical and Opera connoisseur. So when I heard and saw this lady sing, all I could think of was
“Will you make me the luckiest human being in the world and sing like that every night for the rest of my life”. This lady has a very unique, sweat yet very feminine and passionate voice which is complimented by her beauty, height, smile and vocal range. I was made to watch this and I immediately wanted to have the scene. I thank the heavens I have a blog….now enjoy

A reporter gets into trouble on live TV, at Channel 4. It would be nice to see this happen on SABC or enews during their “LIVE” primetime broadcasts. When the CEO of Eskom left the set of enews primetime when he was asked about Eskom’s incompetence, that was awesome and the anchor actually asked the dude point blank,
"why should we be expected to pay for Eskom's mistakes and poor planning" and Eskom walked out. That was so cool and I gave the male anchor at enews a hand of applause for handling it with such professionalism.
Anyway, this guy encounters what I call a reality check on assignment and it’s all live. Without spoiling it…enjoy
Moving on.....
Coming back to South Africa, here is a scene which I always find very funny and the subtitles helped. This scene is from Rhythm City when Belinda showed the Vilakazi’s that she can go all “drama queen” on them.
Producers of this show need to re-hire this lady in another eccentric role. This left me laughing for days. The funny thing of all is that you could see the other actors trying very hard to keep in character. Enjoy…
And lastly
Wouldn’t it be nice if Mr. Precipitations over e-news weather would lose it like this dude. But I have to admit that, the lady anchor was a pain. When she laughs and goes “Okay”, on live TV. Hilarious much! You have to watch it to appreciate the humour.
So I was thinking of a Punk'd situation over at enews primetime and for me to get a chance to drive Derek van Dam crazy by going….
.(interrupt him during his passionate segment)…. Derek….wait.. wait! What’s with this precipitations, what does it mean and I mean really.... just simplify it for our viewers…Van D c'mon!..... Do you think he will be on the next flight back to the US.
I enjoy watching gag reels and blooper collections. Every show has one but live telecasts try to avoid them as best as they can. You know when watching Miss Universe and wondering what would happen if she falls with that crown and it breaks into a million pieces whilst the whole world is watching?
But some shows have scenes which are so good that you can watch them over and over. I hope you enjoyed this first edition of
“TheTVObserver’s Memorable Moments” on television.
Which of these moments did you enjoy?
Catch the second edition with a new line-up of memories soon.
