Not A Big Deal!

       It's Not a Big Deal!

“Why then have you despised the command
of the Lord by doing what I consider evil?”
2 Samuel 12:9

As Christians we have ways of preferring and describing our sin. When we sin/do wrong we often refer to that type of sin as; “I have backslidden”, “It is bad habit”, or “It’s a moment of weakness”.

Sometimes we just DON’T want to face up to what we've done at all! But to God a sin is a sin and that’s just what He calls it, all the times.

When David sinned by committing adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba, God saw David's sin much differently than David did and God wouldn't overlook David's sin. Even though David had been obedient time after time, his sin was an insult to God…David knew better…he knew what God thought about adultery--and about murder--yet he chose to satisfy his own selfish purpose and obeyed to his appetite.

Yet still, rather than repenting immediately, David tried to cover it up by having Uriah killed (Romans 7:2-3----by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.)…I guess this is what David was doing. But God wouldn't overlook David's sin.
Perhaps he thought God would let him get away with this one…since he'd been faithful in so many other ways in the past.

That’s exactly what we tend to do as Christians; just because we obey the Lord our God in “some sins” we think it is acceptable to Him that we do that “other sin”. We sometimes excuse ourselves for disobeying God's Word…we assume God will just forgive us and treat us as if it never happened…we think our disobedience is not a BIG DEAL…we rationalize it by telling ourselves, "Hey, nobody’s perfect anyway!"

Maybe if we really understood how God looks at our sin, we would take His Word far more seriously…and if we realized that we insult God and His Word every time we sin, we would be more hesitant to do what we know is wrong.
Hebrews 10:26-27---- If we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.

How seriously do you take the sin in your lives?

and pls dnt bite back, im scared of you lol

the bible states that sin is sin and that God is not pleased when a sinner die
"Morena ga a kgatlwe ke leso la moetsadibe"

we have been taught from back in days when we had "religious education" classes what sin is

sin is doing what God says is wrong

if we sin we fall short of God's grace but when we repent God is faithful and just to forgive (and will never remind) us

the most important thing is not doing the same thing over and over again because that shows that you do not respect God and you will be punished

"repent or perish"

so like my mom always says "tshaba sebe le se se tshwanang le sona"
if we do that; then we will be a step closer to pleasing God

and sin is sin, no big sin or small sin
e.g lying a small sin, abortion big sin (according to some people)
let us try our best not to sin

Thank you Phikza,This is the same  message my pastor was preaching about on monday. Repentace (sp)

It seems as if we Christians we are still living under the sin hence we know that we must not sin but we do.
I think we must repent bcos God is still giving us a chance, and he say in his word
if we come to him and confess our sin He is so Faithfully to forgive us. We must not hide our sin.

Thankx Phikza and MaCodzz
This is very True, the bible in 1 John 1:8-10 says

"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."

But thina as Christians we forget to do the highlighted part ... we dont want to confess, instead we justify, and our justification  will never give us purification, but that much we forget ...

Thanks Bazalwane

This came at a right time.  There is a sin I am battling with, for years I have been trying to kick, but I end up being back at it and every time, worse than the last time. And in all this, I do confess and ask for God's forgiveness. Do I repent, clearly not.  I keep going back to it.  It seems as if I enjoy it and can't find myself not doing it.

Last Sunday I had a special prayer and asked God to help me as I realised that I can not do it on my own.  I called it by name.  One thing I know is that, He heard my prayer, and He has forgiven me.

If we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.

Sometimes I even think that I commit the unforgivable sin by not repenting.  I hear the Holy spirit talking to me, rebuking me and telling me to repent from this sin, but I do not listen.

For me it's a matter of the spirit willing but the flesh being too weak.  I'm just confused when it comes to my non-repetance and grace, my understanding is that grace covers my sin not that i would sin intentionally but if i do, i'm not too hard on myself for if i have confessed and asked for God's forgiveness and then i move on.  We must becareful about being too hard on ourselves for the devil would want us to dwell on the sin and how difficult it is not to sin but the grace of the Lord has covered all our weaknesses.  When God sees us, he does not see the sin that we have committed but his righteousnness.

Yes Mathaz you are very right ..but what i understood from this article is ... it is speaking about those sins that we dont confess oor just take them lightly, justify them and sugar quote them .... like when you gossip you just say .. this is just my bad habit ...  you dont real  accept that it is a sin and you need God's grace to overcome it

Hi guys!!! Phikza no Cody...siyabonga bo sisi bami abahle...(learning zulu the best way i can)...

How seriously do you take the sin in your lives? ....i take it very hard, i dont try to justify it...i just know im wrong and with asking for forgiveness,it breaks me verey much. Thts in general.

BUT Like u FK..nami i also have a sin i have been battling with since i was a child....a little thorn....
At some point i felt ahsamed to ask God for forgiveness because i saw noticed tht i end up sinning again. I know tht is wrong, but what makes me sad is the idea of taking advantage of His grace(if there is such a thing..please help baena). So id rather feel ashamed than aks God to forgive me. I only feel deserveing to ask for forgiveness when i have done a tangible ammount of good. I know i sound very wrong right now......
Recently i have decided to tell someone, she is my accountability partner and that has helped.

lol, dali...hi ms t

Mathaz...i get what you are saying....we sin then we repent asking God to forgive us....

what the article is trying to say is that...we dont want to face up to what we've done -- which is wrong in God's eyes....instead we sugar quote it, like BA says....that maybe its a weakness in you whereas you know exactly that it a sin and it is wrong in front of God's eyes.......and you also know the truth(Hebrews 10:26-27) and you know as well that with our Lord Jesus nothing is impossible and that sin---the one you call a "weakness", if you bring it to HIM...HE will mend it and help you with it...FK also touched something like this

how about this.i did something that i'm not proud of  a long time ago.i prayed about it and asked God to forgive me ,i have not repeated this sin again but i keep feeling guilty about it.I know i also have to forgive myself for commiting this sin, sometimes i even fool myself into thinking i have .but the guilt always finds a way to come back again.is it really possible that i would ever be free of this sin?help me out to those who might know of a solution to this!

but i keep feeling guilty about it

according to my understanding this is self condemnation
a lot of people does this, but we must forgive ourself first and let it go. sometimes the devil will remind you,

try your best to say "yes, i did that, i asked for forgiveness. My daddy forgave and i know i will never do it again cause its wrong. satan leave me alone"

with time you wont feel that guilty.
hope it works for you Ava
