Career Mistake

So I quite me job last year sometime wanting to start my own business- my mistake, no business plan, I thought I was a genius and all will work out well, so I stayed home for a couple of months without any money coming in.

Now I have just started at a new company, doing the very same job I thought I will do myself since they did not wanna give me the carte blanch in my old company. I must say I am happy to be where I am now, I’ll just have to work hard for my desired salary.

I have learnt my mistakes!!!!

What career mistakes have you made trying to up your game-only to end up where you started?

HALLAAAAA!!!

The only mistake I did was not quit my current job when I had a chance....I got an offer for a nu job wonderful salary but just chickened out of writing and submitting a resignation letter.... My boss was a sweetheart at that time and I just could not hurt her. Needless to say the same woman has turned into a child trained in hell...
If only I could turn back the hands of time - accept that offer and have some guts to write the stupid resignation letter

@ Fluffy head, I have learn that you should not do anything to please other people in life of you'll end up nowhere trying to satisfy everybody and stoking their egos- Its about you at the END

uksebenza gives self worth
Haai wena Mbalenthle, you are born with your self worth, No job can give you your self-worth. You already have it, it's just a matter of recognising that you have it and then allowing it to rise up within you!

But I do agree with you we should learn to be grateful, but in the same breath we should not maintain the status quo but push the envelope. If you are not happy at work then look for something else.

And Sam2Say, I admire you. At least you tried. Now you know what to do next time!

@ Fluffhy<<<I got an offer for a nu job wonderful salary but just chickened out of writing and submitting a resignation letter>>> In future, write the resignation letter, shove it under your boss's door and dissapear for two weeks.

Facebook is blocked everywhere, you need to be clever and access it. Even our Sup was asking why we have access to FB because is blocked, asking simple question that he wasn't suppose to ask.

The mistake i made was working as an intern it was a total waste of my tym nd energy
My recent mistake was offering yearly intership opportunities to ungrateful unemployed graduates "2 give them some practical field experience". In the 1st six months u r "baby-sitting" these creatures - they pop in yo office 57 times in one day,  complaining about being ignored by the support stuff- asking about this & that - not even related to the actual work- from office space queries, aircons not working, cleaning lady 'not cleaning their desks properly", photocopy machine not working, etc - to incorrect hours on the payslip, personal fictions with others, etc. They just have poor inter-personal retaltionships! The last 6 months is spent on updating CVs, completing applications, attending intervies, etc; ie very little tym on their projects, - more sick leaves than any employee in a sinlge year...At the end they have not completed their projects, u r not sure how much the actualy learnt/ benefited from the internship...other than unlimited access 2 phone, internet and computors to 'colour' their CVs....., nc nc nc! It's suppose 2 be a mutual benefit, they get exposure, I get hand & minds to assist in our projects..but it ends being a waste of our tym nd energy....! No more interns in my programme.. sorry togo- 2 hell with dept policy...!

mina i dont wanna work for gov anymore....they just blocked FB....mxii

Yep, FB & many sites are blocked in principle- one must be realy triky to go around that! First is to pretend to be desperately indeed of accessing the net 4  "work deliverables"- Boss buys the story esp she is IT poor...! Ask IT to also set comp 4 internet using dial-up tel line (its very slow... )... when they r there, ask them to also set comp ext modem eg cell phone, etc..! Then use official cell 4ne to access the web including FB....! Argue about the huge phone bill at the month end....! All goes well....!

they say thata ama kaans thata ma millions, but this time i fall right on the trap, doing business far from home sometimes is not easy.

things where going well but this time..........,i bought a plot at the wrong place.. i didnt know anyway

after 4mns after they finish to build the house,i realise my commission was less, tjo ...,i became a straat mate on the phone.

the mistake i done ,dont buy  property by phone,it was waste of time for me,you dont see what you are buying.

Yho! @ Madala, i know  these ungrateful kids..... in 2008, had a  temp microbiologist that wud attend work twice  or at most 3x a week. The Lab supervisor did nt even tell me, she (microbiologist) reported herself to me, coz no one was confronting her and the work was nt done, which meant she had to do tripple the amt when she returned.... i was glad she got permanent work maara, we suffered big time while she went to interviews....
