Actor and Musician Clint Brink and actor and choreographer Lorcia Cooper are finally an item, much to public’s excitement. It isn’t clear when the pair realised they are a match-made-in-heaven but it doesn’t take celebrity shrink Dr Phil to see the pair are in crazy in love.
The pair has played a couple in the now defunct Backstage as Shawn and Charmaine and went on to get married. However, in 2005, Clint went to Generations to play the role of Bradley Paulse. After two or three years of being on the SABC 1 soapie, he went back to e.tv where his acting career started.
Clint now plays Tino Martins and Lorcia plays Erin Martins on Scandal!.
The producers realised Tino needed some love and cast Lorcia especially for the part of Tino’s love interest. It didn’t take the fictitious pair over three years to tie the knot. Before we knew it, their Backstage chemistry was all over Scandal! and they are really comfortable with each other.
Fast forward to April 2012, the two actors are now an item. Yes, I am very excited too. Lorcia and Clint are in love. This is really a cause for celebration for die-hard fans of the pair who have, for over a decade now, wished that they would fall in love for real once and for all.
When I attended the Scandal!’s 1500 episode celebration in Joburg, I wrote this article: Celebrating major Scandalous 1500 episodes. In it, I wrote: “Speaking of kissing anyone anytime, yazi with all due respect, I do not mean for Lorcia Cooper (Erin)’s husband to doubt Lorcia’s commitment to their marriage. But I couldn’t help but notice that Lorcia and Clint make a match-made-in-heaven. They sat together the whole night, danced together, laughed together, and looked good together. I just wish they were a couple. Their friendship is so tight you will wish they take it further to other levels.”
Yes, you all know what they say about being careful of what you wish because it may just ntoni ntoni. It seems I wasn’t far from the truth. The chemistry between the two was so palpable you would be forgiven for thinking they were/are dating. Arg, silly, yes they are dating, silly me! It’s a case of art imitating life.
On the night, I saw them being all touchy-feely and a journo friend of mine and I spoke about them, saying they should just date but my friend insisted Lorcia was still married the last she checked. Even when I asked them to pose for my pics, their posing was so real and affectionate one could ask them to kiss for us.
Local gossip magazine heat has it on high record that the pair are dating and Lorcia’s divorce to her husband is happening. “We are sorry that Lorcia’s marriage didn’t work out but we are excited she and Clint are dating,” wrote the magazine. I say it is also sad that Clint’s engagement to fellow actress Genevieve Howard who also played Tino’s girlfriend on Scandal! didn’t work out. He and Gen were engaged for four years and broke it off in 2009.
In the heat magazine article, Clint denies he is dating Lorcia but heat source are insisting the couple is very much in love. In the mag, Lorcia didn’t comment and the mag had to run to the printers in the meantime.
I am so happy for them and congratulations guys. You deserve each other. Finally, South Africa has got its very own Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Can Makisto be the first to name the couple? Let’s call them Clorcia, shall we? Please keep on loving each other guys. I love you for being in love. I’m so excited for you. Wuuuuuuuuuuuu, I’m so happy.
