Most of you have heard about Vusi Nongxa. Born in Kwadwesi in PE, his music is set to make waves in the SA music industry. As for whether he'll make it big like Ntando, it all remains to be seen.
The album kick starts with the title track, Ndimfumene (I’ve got the one), which is the most hit song in the album. Inspired by Vusi’s friend on his love journey, the song is a true reflection of someone who’s in love. I couldn’t help but also wanna boast that I’ve met the one. The medium tempo and pitch of the song combines well with the lyrics and the result is magic.

Sgod’phola, which Vusi says is his next radio single, will unleash the romantic in you. I find the song challenging me to appreciate my woman even more. This song, which is about an unemployed man who wishes that he gets a job so he can take his woman on a holiday in Sun City, is for romantics. Even if you are not one, just try it, who knows…
Kuhl’e Africa is an average song and definitely not for me. However, I like the lyrics. The East African tempo doesn’t work for me and does no good to the album.

Ngip’uthando reminds me of Ntando when he first burst onto the Afropop scene. Vusi’s lyrics on this song standout in that he came up with a whole new lyrics and doesn’t mimic anyone. You would expect to hear Ntando’s musical tone here and there but you will not hear it. The song is good but I feel he could have done better.
Never ndik’libale is jazzy, but not Ibrahim kind of jazz, it’s Lira kind of jazz. This song is for those lonely nights when you miss the one.

Overall, the album gets 3 stars from me. Vusi is unquestionably musically talented. He’s got the potential to penetrate into his target audience but the poor marketing of his album by EMI can be suicidal. Afropop audience is big in SA and it’s about time we heard a refreshing voice and Vusi offers exactly that.
What I noticed is that Vusi did go to school and his language usage and style as well as sentence construction in his acknowledgements attest to that. Now, here is a learned voice that knows its story. I bought the CD @ Musica for just R79 and it’s a good investment since it contains 13 tracks
