Teaser ...

The ban of corporal punishment hailed as a watershed moment in South African education occurred 15 years ago. Educational psychologists criticized the method saying that's abusive and problematic in the long run and not effective.

So when a video of a principal beating a learner went viral, it sparked immense debate over the continued use of corporal punishment by some educators.

A 3rd Degree poll revealed that many feel the method of corporal punishment should be reinstated. 3rd Degree pushes the debate forward, speaking to both students and teachers about this controversial method of discipline.

3rd Degree is on e.tv and e.News on Tuesdays at 21h30.

same here Tzhavile, my granny was friends wit all teachers and anything silly either at home or at school was CORPORAL P.

The kids are having it easy now, as a mom when you are at work and your kid is in school, you always need to feel relieved but now that is not the case the kids engage in all sorts of bad activities coz even if the teacher sees them, no form of punishment is given. They do what they want.

They talk freely about booze and they bunk school.

CP must be brought back, it doesnt mean killing the kid or any form of abuse but discipline,
