Bio

Jeremy Northam is an English actor best known for his role as Sir Thomas More in the Showtime historical drama series The Tudors, from 2007-2008.

Northam studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after graduating from London University in 1984. He worked in regional theatre and television before spending two years at both the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Northam made his U.S. film debut in The Net, opposite Sandra Bullock. He followed that up with lead roles in the feature films Emma, Gosford Park and An Ideal Husband.

Over his distinguished career, he has made numerous films with many notable directors such as Robert Altman, Sidney Lumet, Guillermo Del Toro, Steven Spielberg, Norman Jewison and James Ivory.

Northam currently resides in Los Angeles.
