Bio

Suzzi Swanepoel is a South African actress and singer best known for reaching the Top 12 of the fifth season of the M-Net reality singing competition Idols, in 2009.

She is also known for her starring role as Isabel Richter in the kykNET musical youth drama series Sterlopers.

Suzzi was born in Potchefstroom in 1984 and from a young age it was obvious she was a strong-minded girl. In 1988 her family moved to Kempton Park where she took part in every educational occasion possible: revues, choirs, hockey and eisteddfods.

In 2002 Suzzi matriculated and went to study Jazz singing at TUT; in 2004 she decided to change her path slightly to the Musical Theatre Course at TUT, were she received her diploma in 2006.

Pieter Toerien's production of Hair took up most of 2007, where she had a taste of life in Cape Town. In 2008 she returned to Jozi eager to transform herself, taking the music that she had written through the years and starting the band Suzzi & the Swanz.

2009 brought about Idols 5, where she took 12th place amongst the top performers in South Africa. Life after Idols brought many different opportunities including working closely with Heidi Edeling in 2010 on Spotlight & Party Police and then playing The Poodle in Deon Opperman's Jock of the Bushveld.

Broadening her horizons in 2011 she set sail on the Costa Deliziosa as Production Singer and entertained people from all over the world.

Suzzi was delighted come back home in 2012 and be part of Cabaret, the Musical. After that the breeze blew her to Seychelles where she was part of the resident band.

Suzzi has appeared in numerous television commercials for brands including Telkom World Call Card, Peach Mobile, Smart Car, Euromillions Irish lottery, Telkom Business, Pick 'n Pay, Santam and Standard Bank.

2013 brought about lots of change in Suzzi's life as she started work on Sterlopers for kykNET, that aired in April 2014. Playing the innocent lead in this production opened new doors for Suzzi and in 2014 she released her twp debut singles: Ek Probeer and EKO.

The start of 2015 found Suzzi playing the role of Bianca in the film Mooirivier and in 2016 she returned to the character Isabel in Sterlopers 2 and her 2nd Silwerskerm fees, Merk.Sny.Stoor. Suzzi loves going to festivals and got to play and work for kykNET #Digitaal as a presenter.

2017 brought about Suzzi's debut in the kykNET soapie Binnelanders, playing the recurring role of Desiré Eksteen.  She made her first appearance on the show in Season 12, Episode 158, which aired on 18 January.

Her debut album, Stukkies van My, launched in March 2017.
