Bio

Cheryl Tiegs is an American model and actress best known for her long-running affiliation with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which featured her on the cover in 1970, 1975, and 1983. The 1978 poster of her in a pink bikini became an iconic 1970s pop culture image.

Tiegs' career started at age 17 with the covers of Glamour, Seventeen and Elle magazines. She eventually graced the covers of Vogue and Bazaar and became known as The Cover Girl.

She was the first model to appear three times on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and she also made the cover of People magazine four times, as well as the cover of Time magazine three times, most notably for the All-American Model cover story at the age of 30.

Breaking with convention, Tiegs started a signature line of clothing and accessories for Sears. The Cheryl Tiegs line sold nearly a billion dollars of merchandise in its 10-year span, helping turn the company around. Thus, Tiegs appeared in another Time magazine cover for Sassy Sears.

Tiegs hosted the 13-part travel adventure series Pathfinders: Exotic Journeys for the Travel Channel and was spokeswoman for Renewal: A Time for You, a program created by Deepak Chopra, M.D., which offered practical advice on choosing healthy lifestyle changes for women in transition.

She also had her own Sports Illustrated Aerobics Interval Training exercise video and authored her book, The Way to Natural Beauty.

She is a frequent guest on shows focusing on issues of fitness, fashion and beauty. Her appearances include The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, VH-1, E!, Access Hollywood, Extra, Tyra Banks, Dr. Oz and many more.

In 2004, Tiegs entered the Hall of Fame in the 40th Anniversary edition of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and was included in People Magazine's Most Beautiful issue.

In 2007, Tiegs had a role in the feature film Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, starring John C. Reilly, in which she and John sang together. Tiegs threw out the first pitch at a Dodger Game, throwing a perfect strike to her son, Zack.

Tiegs is a sought-after speaker on the subjects of health, fitness, achieving balance in life and the importance of caring for our environment. Tiegs went on an expedition in the Arctic to explore the effects of global warming.

She has become the national spokesperson for Cambria, the only producer of natural quartz surfaces in the U.S. Tiegs is in the process of greening her lifestyle, which includes owning a hybrid car and participating in Project Driveway by driving the GM Equinox Fuel Cell vehicle which uses hydrogen and only emits water.

Tiegs appeared on Living with Ed(HGTV) with long-time friend Ed Begley, Jr. to promote environmentally-conscious living. She is committed to educating the public on indoor air quality and completed a nation-wide radio campaign to bring awareness to this issue.

As a result of her commitment to going green, Tiegs was named Green Star of the Week by Access Hollywood. Philanthropy is also important to Tiegs; she serves on the boards of C.O.A.C.H. for Kids and the Earth Conservation Corps.

Tiegs appeared as a celebrity judge on the ABC reality show True Beauty. She has launched a line of skincare products called Ageless Woman by Cheryl Tiegs. She maintains a healthy and balanced life with daily meditation and exercise, such as yoga, weight training and hiking.

In 2012 she was a contestant on the reality competition The Celebrity Apprentice.
