Actor Biography

Tom Welling is an American actor best known for his role as Clark Kent in the sci-fi series Smallville.

Welling went to Okmos High School in Okemos, Michigan where he performed in theatre productions. When he graduated in 1995 he chose to work construction worker instead of going to college.

He was spotted by a modelling scout at a party and moved to Los Angeles where he modelled for Tommy Hillfiger and print ad campaigns.

In 2001 he got his television break with a recurring role as Rob Meltzer in the drama series Judging Amy.

In the same year he was cast as Clark Kent and has subsequently revived the role in all six seasons of the show to date.

He has also had guest roles in the television series Special Victims Unit 2 and Undeclared.

Welling has had roles in feature films Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Fog (2005) and Cheaper By The Dozen 2 (2005).

Welling was named one of People magazine's Breakthrough Stars of 2001.

He is married to model Jamie White and lives in Vancouver.

He is good friends with Ashton Kutcher who he met while modelling.
