Bio

Colin Hanks is an American actor best known for his starring television roles as Alex Whitman in Roswell (1999-2001) and as Jack Bailey in The Good Guys, in 2010.

The son of film actor Tom Hanks, Colin made his television debut in Roswell. He was later seen in a memorable role as a mysterious priest on the Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning television series Mad Men.

He also acted in Steven Spielberg's award-winning 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers.

His big screen debut was a bit part in his father's 1996 film, That Thing You Do and over his first summer hiatus from Roswell in 2001, Hanks travelled to Canada to film the romantic comedy Get Over It with Kirsten Dunst and Ben Foster.

Since then he's appeared in various other films including Whatever It Takes (2000), Orange County (2002), 11:14 (2003), Standing Still (2005), King Kong (2005), Rx (2005) and Alone With Her (2006).

Hanks can also be seen in the independent film Lucky directed by Gil Cates Jr. and co-starring Ann-Margret and Jeffrey Tambor. Other feature film credits include the Oliver Stone biopic W, The House Bunny with Anna Faris, Untraceable with Diane Lane and The Great Buck Howard with John Malkovich.

In 2002, he garnered critical acclaim for his performance in the production of This Is Our Youth at the Garrick Theatre in London's West End.

Hanks grew up in Sacramento, California and attended Loyola Marymount University, a liberal arts school in Los Angeles, where he began acting and appearing in school productions such as Noises Off!.

He currently lives in Los Angeles.
