Kajal Maharaj is a South African television presenter, actress, dancer and model best known as the presenter of the SABC2 religious show Dharma Moments.

Kajal attended Danville Park Girls High School from 1998-2002 and matriculated with distinction, receiving the award for Speech and Drama. After school she qualified as a make-up artist and fashion stylist from Face 2 Face Make-Up School.

She has been trained in Kathak dance by The Nateshwar Dance Academy and danced at The Playhouse company in 1995 and 1996 for Indian dance shows directed by Smeetha Maharaj.

She is also trained in hip hop and modern dance and studied for a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Marketing and Media Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Kajal began modelling from an early age, winning the "Ms Tinkerbell" contest in 1993, at the age of nine.

She modelled in the television adverts for Vodacom Beach Africa 2001 and for their fashion shows from 1999-2003. She alsp modelled for the NWJ Bridal fair from 2000-2006.

Since 1999 she has appeared in local newspapers numerous times, while appearing in magazines such as Mens Health, FHM, Keur, Sisters and Fairlady.

In 2004 she won the Miss India KZN pageant and competed in the Miss India SA pageant, winning awards for Most Motivated and Most Beautiful Skin. She won the Face of India Bollywood SA title in Gauteng in 2005, and in the same year was the face of The Pavilion night adverts and billboards in Durban.

Kajal represented South Africa in the Miss International Tourism pageant in 2006 and was awarded the Miss Congeniality prize. She was the face of Suncoast Casino's Summer adverts for December 2006 and January 2007. She was profiled in the SA India magazine in January 2008.

She was a dancer, presenter and actor for the Lilets Road Shows that toured all of the schools in KZN in 2005, enlightening young girls about their bodies and how to maintain self confidence.

Her stage acting debut was in the 2007 play Bad Girls Do Go To Heaven, directed by Yugan Naidoo. That same year she made her film debut, in Broken Promises 2 directed by Kumaran Naidu. Later that year she played her first leading role in film, in Kumaran Naidu's Run for Your Life 2.

In February 2008 she took over from Kajal Bagwandeen as presenter of the SABC2 religious show Dharma Moments, a Hindu faith specific series that celebrates and affirms the ways of worship, lifestyle and faith of the Hindu community in South Africa.

She played the role of Veneshree on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo in December 2009, and presented the show So FAB on DStv channel 456.

In 2018 she began playing the recurring role of Shria Rampersad in the e.tv soapie Imbewu: The Seed.
