Mare Winningham is an American actress best known for her award-winning role as the title character in the 1995 feature film Georgia.

She is best known to television viewers for her recurring roles as Dr. Amanda Lee in the 5th season of medical drama ER; and as Susan Grey, Meredith's stepmother, in the 2nd and 3rd seasons of Grey's Anatomy.
