Chris Bauer is an American actor best known for his starring television roles as Frank Sobotka in The Wire (2003), as Fred Yokas in Third Watch (1999-2004) and as Andy Bellefleur in True Blood, from 2008-2014.

A native of Los Angeles, Bauer honed his skills on the stage in Chicago performing with such noted ensembles as the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, as well as the famed Goodman Theatre there.

After graduating from the Yale School of Drama, he moved to New York where he became a member of the Atlantic Theatre Company founded by David Mamet. He went on to appear in the Atlantic's popular productions of Mojo and Parlor Song, among others.

Other New York appearances include Playwright's Horizons Theater and Manhattan Theater Club. He made his Broadway debut as Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire opposite the late Natasha Richardson.

Bauer's first feature film role in Snow White was opposite Sigourney Weaver. Other film credits include Face Off, Devil's Advocate, Flawless, 8MM, Animal Factory, High Fidelity, Broken Flowers, Flags Of Our Fathers, directed by Clint Eastwood, and The Conspirators, directed by Robert Redford.

Bauer appeared as Frank Sobotka in a critically acclaimed performance during season two of HBO's The Wire. His other work for HBO includes co-starring roles in 61*, and The Notorious Bettie Page, and Bernard and Doris for HBO Films.

He also appeared in the television movies The Lost Room for Sci-Fi Channel, and Our Fathers for Showtime. For five years Chris played Fred Yokas on Third Watch and was a series regular on Tilt for ESPN as well.

His recent guest starring appearances include Numb3rs, CSI, Criminal Minds, Fringe, Law and Order: SVU, The Good Wife, Unforgettable, Hawaii Five-0, Prime Suspect and The Office.
