Actor Biography


Lauren Graham is a American actress best known for her starring role as Lorelai Gilmore on the television dramedy series Gilmore Girls, from 2000-2007.

She's been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her portrayal of the thirtysomething single mom.

The role also earned her a Best Actress award from Viewers for Quality Television and an award as Best Actress in a Drama from the Family Friendly Forum.

Lauren started her acting career shortly after arriving in Los Angeles when she landed a recurring role as Shelly in the first season of Caroline In The City (1995-1996).

More recurring roles followed, as Graham played an efficiency expert hoping to downsize the staff of NewsRadio and a studio executive who pursued Benjamin Bratt when his marriage was on the rocks on Law & Order.

In addition, Graham has guest starred on Seinfeld and 3rd Rock From The Sun. She was a series regular on the comedy Conrad Bloom and Townies and starred as a high school administrator dealing with her disruptive niece on M.Y.O.B.

On stage Lauren appeared onstage at The Williamstown Theatre Festival in the 2002 comedy Once in a Lifetime.

Lauren's first feature film was in the 1997 thriller Nightwatch, starring Patricia Arquette and Ewan McGregor. Further films credits include Sweet November with Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron as well as Bad Santa, where she starred opposite Billy Bob Thornton.

She also starred in the independent film Dill Scallion, a mockumentary on the world of country music in which Graham had very big hair and she played Renée Zellweger's best friend and confidante in the Meryl Streep drama One True Thing.

She's most recently finished filming Because I Said So and Evan Almighty, which is the sequel to Bruce Almighty in which she stars opposite Steve Carell. Both films will be released in 2007.

Born in Hawaii, Lauren grew up an avid equestrian in Northern Virginia and attended Barnard College in New York, where she majored in English. She then earned a Masters Degree in Acting from Southern Methodist University. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
