James Watson is a Scottish actor best known for his role as Duncan Idaho in the 2003 mini-series Dune.

He played the role of Dr. John McEwan in the Irish soap opera Fair City in 1988, had a guest role in a 1998 episode of Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog entitled "Night Of The Spirits" (Season 1, Episode 20), and had a minor role in the 2002 mini-series King Jamie and the Angel.

In 2003 he appeared in the second episode of the historical documentary series Warrior Women, playing the role of Hugh de Lacy in the story of Grace O'Malley.

He has also appeared in the made-for-TV movies Prince William (2002) and Summer Solstice (2005).

In addition, Watson has acted in the feature films Before I Sleep (1997), Biological Maintenance Department (1997), Blind Date (1999), Ratcatcher (1999), The Hawk & the Dove (2001), The Winter Warrior (2002), If Silence Should End (2002), The Bone Hunter (2003), Red Rose (2004), A Woman in Winter (2005) and Take 3 Girls (2006).

Watson has also produced or executive produced the movies The Last (2002), Martin (2003), A Dublin Story (2003), Luka (2004), and Push Hands (2004).
