Bio

Sean Maguire is an English actor of Irish decent who first became popular in the late 1980's when he played Tegs Ratcliffe in BBC's children's drama Grange Hill, which he appeared in for four years.

He went on to play Aidan Brosnan in Eastenders for a year before playing Marty Dangerfield in Dangerfield. He also starred as Euan Pierce in the sitcom Off Centre, from 2001-2002.

He also starred as the lead in the British gangland film Out of Depth and in the title role of the original TNT movie Prince Charming opposite Martin Short, Christina Applegate and Bernadette Peters.

Born and raised in a suburb of London, Maguire appeared in his first film, A Voyage Round My Father, with Lord Laurence Olivier at the age of five. His parents teach Irish dancing in London and Sean was discovered by a talent agent while dancing with his siblings.

He subsequently starred on several British series, including Grange Hill, Dangerfield and the hugely popular Eastenders, for which he received the most coverage and fan mail in the series' history.

During that same time, Maguire appeared in the dramatic feature film Waterland with Jeremy Irons and Ethan Hawke.

In 1993, he left Eastenders to pursue a musical career. He signed a six-record deal and within months had a single on the charts, debuting at No. 14. The songs quickly became top 20 hits, prompting four successive U.K. tours at venues as large as Wembley Stadium. At the age of 18, he became one of the hottest U.K. pop stars of the late '90s.

After three intense years of recording and touring, Maguire decided to taper off his music career to pursue stage work. His roles subsequently included starring as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at the King's Head Theatre in London and as Hal in the Joe Orton classic comedy Loot at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth.

He went on to have starring roles in the television comedy series Off Centre, Eve and The Class, and played the title role in Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire. He also played the role of PC Sean McCartney in Scott & Bailey.

Maguire currently divides his time between Los Angeles and his home in Essex, England. He still lists Irish dancing among his hobbies, and three of his siblings perform in the stage production Riverdance.
