Bio

David Bradley is an English actor best known for his role as the caretaker of Hogwarts, Argus Filch, in the Harry Potter film franchise.

He also had a starring role as Brother Joseph, an elderly monk and Kingsbridge Priory's physician whose hands shake with palsy and always causes more harm than good, believing "purging" is the cure for all illness, in the television miniseries World Without End.

His many other film credits include Captain America: The First Avenger directed by Joe Johnston, Another Year directed by Mike Leigh, Hot Fuzz, The Exorcist: The Beginning directed by Renny Harlin and Nicholas Nickleby directed by Doug McGrath to name only a few.

David's television credits include Richard II directed by Rupert Goold, Game of Thrones (HBO), The Tudors, Sweeney Todd and Blackpool, both for BBC, Charles II directed by acclaimed director Joe Wright for BBC.

David's extensive theatre credits include Moonlight directed by Bijan Sheibani for Donmar Warehouse, No Man's Land directed by Rupert Goold for The Gate Theatre, Dublin and for which he received an Olivier nomination as Best Actor, Henry 1V, Parts 1 and 2 directed by Nicholas Hytner for the National Theatre and for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award as Best Supporting Actor, Titus Andronicus directed by Bill Alexander for The Royal Shakespeare Company, Twelfth Night and Uncle Vanya both directed by Sam Mendes for Donmar Warehouse.

Other theatre credits include Phedre, The Homecoming, Richard III all for The National Theatre, Mother Courage, The Tempest, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, The Alchemist all for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

David earned another Olivier Award nomination for Henry IV Part II for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He was the winner of the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Actor in Hamlet and Henry IV Part II for the Royal Shakespeare Company and he won the coveted Olivier Award for his Best Supporting Actor role in the National Theatre production of King Lear.
